California Governor Jerry Brown signed a mandatory school vaccination bill into law Tuesday, abolishing the “personal belief” exemption that many parents use as a loophole to avoid vaccinating their children. He stated: "The science is clear that vaccines dramatically protect against a number of infectious and dangerous diseases. While it's true that no medical intervention is without risk, the evidence shows that immunization powerfully benefits and protects the community."

Starting July 1, 2016, all children enrolled in public or private schools or day cares must be vaccinated against whooping cough, measles and other diseases (here is the list of required immunizations). Those with medical conditions such as allergies and immune-system deficiencies, confirmed by a physician, would be excused from immunization.
Parents who decline to vaccinate their children for personal or religious reasons will have to home-school them or send them to a public independent study program off school grounds.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Antivaxxers put children, both their own and those around them, at risk, and it is absolutely justifiable to exclude them from public schooling if they are not willing to undergo such a basic medical procedure.

No medical procedure should ever be mandatory. However, being free to choose not to have a medical procedure doesn't make you immune to consequences.

There are certain vaccinations required to travel overseas as a public health precaution against various diseases. Why is this any different? The alternative is to find a private school that does not have this restriction or home school.

They aren't mandatory vaccinations to go overseas. You don't have to go overseas.

Jim Carrey put on a circus show of outrage on Twitter following the passing of this law. Basically a man in his 50s doing antics like this:
:hahaha::kyaa::muahah::tantrum::notlistening:

In addition to shrieking out inaccuracies about vaccines and calling Gov. Brown a fascist, he misappropriated photos of children with autism to make them into involuntary poster kids about the supposed evils of vaccines. This was without seeking permission from the families, giving any consideration to how they might feel when their children were used in such a manner, or even finding out the basic facts. One of the boys had been diagnosed with autism prior to being vaccinated.

If they don't want to get their children vaccinated, then Mom or Dad can stay home with the children and home school them. They should not be allowed to put other people (especially other children) at risk. Maybe the parents should be sued as well for not getting their children vaccinated and being a danger to others, unless there is a medical reason that the child can't be vaccinated.

Require one of the parents stay home and home school their child then. They should not be allowed into the public schools without the vaccinations.

Did you see where the family of a child Carey posted in his rant on this law raked him over the coals for using their son's picture? They are not against vaccinations and said their son's autism is genetic and was not caused by vaccinations.

California might have even better results if they enforced immigration law. :sigh:
We should probably not let anyone take a vacation out of the country without being vaccinated first.

The only one actually required by travellers at the current moment is the Yellow Fever vaccination if you are traveling to sub-Saharan Africa or specific parts of South America.

We should make others mandatory as well, that way American tourists don't accidentally bring back diseases like Measles!
