I am starting this thread so people can share information on the ecconomy.

"With US$4.8 trillion in assets — or about the size of Japan’s economy — no one manages more money than BlackRock Inc. So, it’s worth paying attention when the firm says it’s time to cast aside its trusted models for assessing risk in bonds.

The gyrations gripping the world’s fixed-income market are so great that it’s almost impossible to make sense of them on a historical basis. In Germany, for example, yields on 10-year securities have surged from almost nothing in late April to about 1 per cent last week — a move so swift that some strategists are likening it to a once-in-a-generation event.

“The German bund market is incalculably volatile,” said Scott Thiel, BlackRock’s deputy chief investment officer for fundamental fixed income in London. “It doesn’t make sense to measure it in traditional respects.”

Across Europe, investors are ripping up their old models to analyze the US$100 trillion global bond market that dictates how much consumers and companies pay to borrow. Volatility is soaring as central-bank policies diverge, whiffs of inflation emerge and new regulations cause big banks to back away from their traditional role facilitating buying and selling.

The moves have led to losses of US$640 billion in sovereign debt worldwide"

"The world is defenceless against the next financial crisis, warns BIS"

"Monetary policymakers have run out of room to fight the next crisis with interest rates unable to go lower, the BIS warns

The world will be unable to fight the next global financial crash as central banks have used up their ammunition trying to tackle the last crises, the Bank of International Settlements has warned."

The downside risk of the global derivative and debt swap market is calculated at about 100 Trillion dollars. The entire global economy is estimated at 44 Trillion.

The next bond market crisis isn't going to be pretty. The international banking system has strapped on a huge bomb and put us all in a suicide pact.

And we let them do it.

I have heard from leading economists the global derivitive market is at least 2 quadrillion... 100 trillion or 2 quadrillion makes little difference at this point... the titanic the economic ship that could never sink is going down... and its been done by design

Its not going to be a crisis its going to be a total collapse of the entire system... a whole new economic order will be unvailed and an electronic currency is the idea being bandied about at the minute.

In my opinion and that of many economists is that the sovereign debt collapse will implode the governments of the entire world and a new global restructioning will take place under the united nations

If you want to know where gay marriage is coming from, abortion, atheism and the decadent society we are living in just look at the money masters.... money is the root of all evil.... the only time jesus gets violent in the bible is chasing the money changers out of the temple that ought to tell us something right there

"Puerto Rican debt 'unpayable' as country's economy stuck in 'death spiral', says Governor"

"Puerto Rico follows Greece as the second country unable to repay its public debt in another blow to the world financial system this week"

indipendent.co.uk

The quality of your argument is made clear by your considering the debt of Puerto Rico to be on the par the Greek crises which has been going on for a decade. Puerto Rico is NOT a country. Perhaps, the world economy will collapse because of the derby situation in Detroit or California, both much more import than Puerto Rico.

Yes, the economies in Europe are in trouble. They are in much better shape than when this crisis was last at its height tow years ago. And yes, Germany is trouble because of its dependance on the rest of Europe for markets for its goods.

The US could lose all of its exports to Europe and be affected very little. Very little of our GDP is based on exports. And when the trade deal with Asia is likely passed, European exports will be even less important.

And the quality of your argument it shown by discounting puerto rico as unimportant. The truth is the global economy is interwoven and to disregard any part of it is to limit yourself on seeing the bigger picture

Do you not agree that the importance of Puerto Rico (or anyone) to the global economy is in proportion the their contribution to the global economy? I know a guy who lost his house for being a deadbeat and electing not to pay his bills, but his example doesn't tell us anything about the health of the US economy. I feel like you have a lot emotionally invested in this issue and that maybe you're selectively choosing to pay attention to those global circumstances that support your beliefs while (subconsciously, perhaps) ignoring the news that challenges your belief. A similar phenomenon can be observed in virtually all of the people who previously thought that their times were those prophesized as the end times.

In two words: confirmation-bias.

Yes how silly of you to think we havent had gay people for thousands of years but that these people are now being used by those who wish to direct a breakdown of christian principles in society

Of course i agree that puerto rico isnt as important to the global economy as china is but to say it is unimportant is incorrect, arrogant and lacking in compassion. I am sure the people of peurto rico think this news is very important

Well yes it is as a matter of fact... and just because your ignorant of the fact doesnt make it untrue. You can deny it if you like but i have spent 15 years researching this topic and for a longtime i didnt want to believe it even though the evidence was so strong but now they openly admit their plans.

I suppose you think a lone gun man named lee harvey oswald killed jfk too

What's your aluminium bill like? Do you have to make a new hat every day, or do you get a few days wear out of each one?

I dont know anyone who has tin foil hats isnt that just a way to mock people you disagree with.

I suppose abortion doesnt kill unborn children.

I suppose ru486 wasnt developed by russel uclef a french company owned by a germany company who wasnt part of ig farben who never supplied zyclon b to kill the jews....and that they didnt have ties with jd rockerfellers standard oil...and that the united nations building isnt built on land donated by jd rockerfeller... if you have not researched it you have no right to mock because your ignorant of the facts
