She is the sweetest thing, but we think she might be a little depressed. She came from a house with many dogs she played with to one with 2 she does not know (one is her offspring but they don't seem to recognize each other). Also she had puppies 8 weeks ago and could be mourning the separation. I was told 2 died but I don't know how many she actually had.

She is not afraid to ask for attention when she wants it. We are also waiting on a test she had for parasites which we won't get the results for a few days. I know adjustment will take time, I just wish I could heal her heart now. Another thing I found out is I am at least her 3rd owner. The previous owner at first said she was a year old when they got her and that she was 5 now, then when we went to get her it was that she is 6 years old and they did not get her until she was 2 years old. So I worry a little she will think this is just another temporary home. I know nothing about dogs who have been passed around and not given that forever family experience.

Her son, the one we own, keeps trying to tell her his rules for her but she has spunk and is not putting up with it. She either ignores his commands or she lets him know she makes her own decisions. So she has not given up on life that is obvious.
Thank you for your prayers it means so much to all of us here.

Thank you. She has hardly eaten since we got her. We found out today she has no parasites, and she did finally eat a little when she saw her son eat (her puppy we bought 2 and a half years ago). I think she wanted to make sure he did not one up her on the food. Then today she chased him all over the house at the speed of light. Although she had made small attempts at playing with him before they were very short attempts, she mostly spends the day sleeping. So this was a huge breakthrough today. As far as them being mother & son I don't think they recognize each other but I do think they will eventually enjoy each others company. Our Maltese pretty much accepted her on first sight but has not played with her yet. He is a bit older, going on 9, but he seemed pleased we got a new dog. I think tonight has shown us that she is going to be alright and eventually fit in and be happy here. I am sure it will happen in steps. Thank you all for caring for our little dog girl. She is very sweet and likes to give kisses. :dog:

God has blessed us greatly. I came back in to let you know we have the dog in our possession and she seems in good health. She did have puppies 8 weeks ago but will be seeing the vet tomorrow for a checkup. She is already seeking family members out for comfort and the other dogs in the house, although a bit excited are not being aggressive about her. Looks like all our prayers were answered in the affirmative. No matter how this turned out God is great but when it is something that brings joy there are no words big enough to express what I feel. God knows how much I appreciate his help and in a quiet moment I will be doing my best to express it. Right now its kind of chaotic in a good way around here. Thank you all for helping to bring God's blessing to this little dog and my family. All is well.
Thank you for the update. We all love a happy ending. I don't know what is available in the UK but I know I have sometimes treated animals on my own, without a vet, through research on the net, maybe Youtube, and stuff you can buy online.

I hope you don't mind if I tell a pet story, too, that confirms what you know, that Abba leads us to animals sometimes. (I already told this story on another prayer string, but it seems so appropriate here.) Some years ago I was wondering if I should buy some birds, some cockatiels. I prayed to know what to do. I felt told, mentally, "They need a home." This I understood clearly to mean not just animals in a pet store, but the ones I was to buy.

So I saw a pair of cockatiels and bought them, saying nothing about the prompting of course. Then the person who put them in the box piped up and told me they had been in the pet store for a very long time with no one buying them. Oh, and once a parakeet died. I thought it was old age, but then I kind of had a vision in bed the next morning. I saw the male cockatiel all alone in his cage. I felt I was being shown the dead bird was sick and I needed to treat the other birds or only one would live. One more parakeet did die, but with antibiotics and probiotics I got online (and exposure to sunshine and fresh air) the other left over 4 have done fine. So many time I have been prompted on this and that about animals. We know and we know that we know that our Heavenly Father loves them!

Thank you for taking that dog in and sharing your story. It is so inspiring. :) Pat the doggie for me please.

Thank you all for your support and LoricaLady for the bird story. Prayers are not just words, they become a real action through our Father and every word spoken to Him on behalf of others affects them in some way. This forum is a sanctuary of love and hope. God bless you all. (Will give her a pat or two for you LoricaLady, she loves being petted).

Oh that's a great thought about prayer.

This forum is a great blessing indeed. (Thanks mods!)

No I am in the USA. We will be getting her tomorrow evening 5:30 pm PST. I pray her health is not bad. Vet costs are very high these days. Thank you all for caring about this tiny dog. I also found out today that the present owner is not the first owner but did not get her until she was a year old. So it sounds like she has never been deeply loved. My home will be her forever home. My financial resources are limited but one of my fears for her is that if someone else acquires her she will just be used for breeding again and I think she will die if that happens. Thank you brothers & sisters in Christ.
