I have always wondered why the Catholic Church still has Saturday Night Mass. I know originally it was for union workers that had to work on Sunday, but this church is deep in suburbia and seems as most attend Saturday night so they can have Sunday for Football or the lake.

there could be a very practical reason for this. Most often confession is held on Saturday.
So one could go to confession, do the penance, be absolved, and then go to mass and take part in the Eucharist with a clean conscience.
p.s. football usually doesn't start until 1 pm anyhow, so it's not likely to interfear with mass even on Sunday.

Not seeing the problem. People still have to work Sundays. God knows your heart. If you're going to mass just to get it out of the way so your Sunday is open, there will be a reckoning.
