Hold on to Christ and His Lordship over your life, and you will have eternal life.

No, dear pilgrim, you are not. John 3:16 is the place to start, and a good place it is too. Your name suggests that you have taken a hold of eternal life for the pilgrim journeys to the end. Just think of Paul's metaphors of running the race and fighting the fight. You'll see you've already got the picture. You could also use Paul's example of Israel in the wilderness on their journey to the promise, where he encourages us not to tempt God as they did, wishing for the things they left behind, and be as one suggested in the Book of Hebrews, not as those who turn back but, in Paul's own words, let us press on to the mark of the high calling of God. Continuing faith is the handle of eternal life and that, as was said above, is relational.
