• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

A friend of mine committed suicide recently.

Basically they had a brain operation to remove a non malignant cancer. Their behaviour then became abnormal. It was like there was a disconnect between the words they said and the emotions you would associate with them. Later they were diagnosed as psychotic and this was characterised by violence towards the doctor trying to help them and some really foul language. This person was no saint and she did not believe in God so I fear that when she jumped off that balcony in a public place she sent herself to hell.

I am trying to understand what happened and trying to provide some kind of comfort to relatives involved. To be honest I have no idea what to say or even how to act in this situation. What words of comfort can you give when you think someone went to hell. What positive message can come out of this? Maybe she was not fully herself in those final moments but was it demons that hurled her over the balcony or just a seriously dysfunctional consciousness?

All you can really do is pray for her family and other friends. If she's... not with The Lord, there's nothing that can be done. Just keep praying.

The Lord can save whom he will and alone knows a persons heart. When i pray my impression is that I should forgive her any wrongs she has done me and there are many. But I will not stand at judgment day to condemn her and my heart is that she be saved. maybe silent prayer is the only adequate response. I pray for wisdom and a gentleness that i have lacked dealing with those who mourn.
