I stopped wearing mine after about a year and a half. However, she bought me a ring at a festival that she liked so much she said it would have made a better wedding ring than the one I wore. It went on the ring finger of my right hand and will stay there until I die.

It's only been a month since she's gone after 52 years together. I stare at my wedding ring and think 'what does this mean now?' I'm in no rush to remove it but I am curious about how others have dealt with/deal with this symbol of commitment.

I've been on my own for many years now did have a short and very unhappy second marriage, which was later annulled. I put my true rings back on from my first husband and have never taken them off.

I took my wedding band off about four months after his death and then I wore his for two months and then I took that one off and put it on my key ring... I think maybe it was easier for me to take mine off because I worked with my hands so much that I didn't always wear it... and when he became so sick he was unable to wear his wedding band due to extreme swelling...

3 years and 2 months. mine is off now temporarily because i have lost enough weight that the ring easily slides off my finger, and I have been sick for 3 going on 4 weeks and don't want to accidently have it slide off and me not be aware.
so i put it in a safe spot next to his remberance altar, and it will stay there until i am well again and can have it resized.
my hand feels empty.:(

I am finally, thank you for asking.
my daughter came to help me on the road back to health, and with her she brought a set of clear plastic ring sizer's. I slipped one over my wedding band and it took up enough space so that my ring can now stay securely on my finger.
So praise God, the ring is back where it belongs!

My wedding ring was tiny and eventually I outgrew it. Then it was stolen. I would love to have a nice wedding band, but haven't made myself spend the money. I wear a five dollar ring when I go out.

For me it is six months since I lost my wife of 26 years. I loved being married to her and I can't imagine ever not wearing my wedding ring. I keep hers on a chain around my neck along with a cross. The way I see it I'm still married to my wife. We just have to spend some time apart for a while.

I’m new to the forum and am dealing with this same issue. I lost my 51 year old husband suddenly 6 1/2 months ago. He went to sleep one night and woke up with Jesus. We were together for 20 years and married for 15 of those. I miss him every minute of every day. Some days I wear my wedding ring on the left and other days I move it to the right. I don’t think there is any answer that is right for everyone.

Mine got pawned shortly after I lost my husband. I had to pay bills and took several pieces of jewelry in to the pawn shop. Of course, I have a bit of a different view on things than a lot of folks.....death is just another part of life, and my memories will last me a lifetime. I don't need a ring on my finger to remember who we were together. He would want me to move on, live life, and enjoy myself. If I meet another man some time in the future (It's been 3 years next month), great....if not, I'll be okay. The ring was a symbol, and nothing more.

It has been almost seven years. For me it is another way to remember. But at other times I will feel the ring or become aware of it without having to think about it. There is a nearness to those thoughts if that makes sense.
