King Solomon
love of wisdom, artistic and grandiose (look at the descriptions of the things he built)
but also has a weakness for the ladies that gets him in trouble (he had 1,000 wives and concubines and they led him into idolatry)

I always end up thinking that I'd probably identify far more with one of the nameless women, the figures who appear in the background and rarely take centre stage. I mean, those we know of, their stories are fabulous. Rahab and her boldness, cunning and courage for instance. I'd love to say that I relate to her (and who wouldn't), but it always comes back to those background characters going about their lives, following the teachings of Christ, but never in such a way that their experiences were considered of such importance they should be recorded.

That's a cop out response, I need to think about this.

Which character in the Bible do you identify with the most? Why?

The question assumes I identify with biblical characters to begin with. I'm not sure I can say that I do. However if I was to stretch a few things, I would say some of the prophets, even though I make no claim on such a title.

That is a surprisingly thought-provoking question (for me, anyway). I suppose I would say either Dorcas or Naomi. I cannot say if I died today that I would be as fondly remembered for my good deeds as Dorcas was, but I can relate to her in my aspirations to be so. I believe she is a good picture of a regular women who touched the lives of others through simple acts of kindness. Sadly, I can relate to Naomi in that I feel I have become quite bitter and I struggle to find any happiness or hope in life any longer.

For me, it's Ruth. Because she was a caregiver in a strange land... I try to copy whatever it was in her attitude that pleased God.

That is a worthy goal to strive for, Gracie. Aside from Rahab, perhaps, Ruth is one of the most admirable women in all of the Bible.

I would like to say that I identify with Boaz the most, as of all the men mentioned in the Bible I admire him the most and he easily seems like the kind of person I would want to strive to be (this is not counting Jesus, of course ^_^ ), but I would have a long way to go to be anywhere near his level of respectability.

Definitely. I think that's why I said Ruth, not the Virgin Mary... lol. I think I'm much more of a Ruth than a Mary, even though Ruth is seen as having a less important role.
