if appetite would bow to need,
if need deferred to Mind,
if Mind, benevolent, painted all
in pigments pure and kind;

if Man could find his God,
if souls could find their place,
if error tainting every nook
could know Redeeming Grace;

then Man and Mind of God
might meld, might Glory yield,
Creation cleansed by mighty act
of Love's restoring zeal.

Connecting - A poem for those dealing with loss during the holidays.

empty chair can stare
when “once was” voice, “once was” face,
“once was” laugh are no longer there

how darkened seems a festive room
denied the touch taken too soon

silent night is crushingly still,
empty, devoid, unbreathing, chilled

and yet…
somewhere between bereavement and joy lives a quiet place
humble space
expectant cocoon for dark times

there,
for a time
you can sink into straw
lean against hewn timbers
feel warm, non-judging, undemanding breath on your shoulders

there,
you can just absorb
viscerally experience raw life
touch the Earth
you and all of God’s creatures
resting
waiting
anticipating
The Lamb.

Both good poems!

I found the first one beautifully put together, and made me think in between of my reading of these verses out loud. It is beautifully written yet with a good rhythm added to it, as well as the message is edifying to the reader. Reminding us of our place under God, reminding us of that only He is to have all glory alone!

The second poem is also very good, though it makes me "think" more. As I have an understanding of the poem when reading it yet it brings me more into thought.
