I'm not an Apple person and I never have been. I think they are overpriced. Mostly, I'm replying to subscribe because there is a chance that this topic will turn caustic and be entertaining.
The Bible Study software Logos/Verbum/Noet has been reported to run slow on Mac. This may change somewhat in about a year due to new programming possibilities that are introduced now. But if You run that software You will need lots of RAM (yes, even for just the Bible Study software) - I would say 16 GB of RAM is not enough at least not if You use the capabilities of the software. You may get away with 16 GB. Less RAM is a disaster unless You run the Accordance Bible Study software (which is a great software and they have great books and You may get away cheaper, and it runs very fast).
With a Mac You need to keep the operative system up-to-date at all times.
The issue about where Macs are manufactured is the real disaster.
Also I wouldn't want to support an all-American company like Apple.
The last Mac I had myself was an '80s model.
I'm from the old school; Mac's are for people who drive Toyota's: They don't want to ever have to get under the hood and fix anything.
Is that enough caustic for you.
In need of a new computer, I will probably just get a pre built system. Avoiding the major hassle of having to build it myself.
Ah, anybody can build a computer. The parts to build a PC have become very standardized over the years. All you really have to worry about is matching your processor with the motherboard socket(which is listed on both, so no big deal), and get a decent power supply.
And of course check the reviews to make sure you don't buy junky parts.
Not so much. That's a fair point. I have issues with how little control Apple allows for the end user. I like opening up the box and upgrading the innards if I so choose. I'm probably just as much a control freak as Apple is, which is probably why we clash
And I used to have a Toyota. I'm sure it's still running for someone out there.
I agree, if they got caught. And I also think it had no business being in there in the first place.Attempting such a thing would send their PR(not to mention market share) into the toilet.
Change that to Honda~~my 1991 Accord has 328,000 miles on it and still running great
