My wife was invited to a christian bible study, and we think we should go because they have an area where children play. Our daughter is almost 3 and we really want to socialize her. I was wondering if people thought it would be ok for us to go? We will be bringing our Carholic bibles, and this might be the only real exposure to Catholicism they would have.

You intend reading studying and receiving The Holy Spirit through Jesus/God's Holy Word (His Holy Scriptures) coming closer to Him (without following another religion) while still being Catholic.

Whenever in doubt with these things just pray to Jesus in His Divine Mercy Chaplet or 7 Our Father's, 7, 7 Glory Be's and 7 Hail Mary's asking for Jesus/God and The Holy Spirit's Loving Holy Wisdom and Guidance flowing through you while completely trusting in Jesus from your Heart,

"Jesus, I trust in You" - from your heart,

Love and kindest wishes your Sister in Jesus Christ our Saviour

I see nothing wrong in you going. Just keep in mind a Protestant Bible study will be different from a Catholic one. It may be very different depending on which Protestant church it is, and which scriptures they discuss. Keep in mind that Protestants don't believe in praying to Mary or any of the saints. In fact they consider any believer to be a saint.

I'd also say if you think only Catholics are going to Heaven then you probably shouldn't go. You may wind up arguing with them, and that won't be good for anyone. But if you have an open mind, you may learn that different people find God in different ways, and if it works for them, then it's all good. This is what has happened to me in my life, and I think I'm better for it. So if you go I hope you enjoy it.

I think it depends. Some Protestants believe in private interpretation of scripture, which is something we do NOT believe or teach. For fellowship, I would say it is ok, though. Just keep in mind Rome IS Home.

Just keep in mind that there are obviously going to be differences in how they understand the bible and interpret it. Most likely they will think that Catholic views are unbiblical. Depending on what kind of church they are from they may actively try to convert you as well.

As has been said it very much depends on the precise persuasion of the Christian group running the study. I was a strict Calvinist for 28 years (believe me you would not wish to have been a part of the studies I used to be involved with, but then you would be unlikely to have been invited!) After my conversion to Catholicism I was rejected by such strictly "Reformed" groups yet still accepted as a Christian by more moderate Evangelical Christians  with whom I prayed and studied for a while. You need to be sure of your ground though for regrettably those within such groupings will have a very different notion of the most holy Sacrament which we know to be vital to the Christian life.

Hi,
I am going to use those items on something else. I wanted to say thank-you. Now on attending Christian Bible classes. It is dangerous if you are intending to learn from them. If you start thinking they are right, more right than the Catholics on the same subjects, you will probably join then accidentally.
The Catholics are more right than any other group, in magnitude. In magnitude. The are more than 3 times more right.
The problem with all communications if you are not an independent thinker, but are really what Jesus wants you to be, most of the time, a sheep, then there is much danger there.
The Jehovah's Witnesses for instance, are very very good at changing things and then actually using a rather standard mental technique, which soon has you repeating and then thinking what they think.
If you would like to do what seems like Saintly Bible study. I said seems like. I said seems like. If you would like to leaarn that way, then perhaps no longer having an entire group (Any Christian sect, apart from Cahtolicism) being able to fight you and this church, try to prove the Bible wrong. Try. Try to prove the Bible wrong. By yourself, try to prove the Bible wrong. Also, use whatever you have to, and whatever you have to learn in order to do that. When you are done with that, just like everyone else who has done that, you will either have done it, therefore giving the world a great gift of showing them another false god, that they will now be able to fight and ignore, or you will fail at that and find God as He Truly Is, but in the Way He wants to be known by you.
LOVE,
...Mary Katerine., .... .
