OK law forces state to accept satanic monument next to 10 commandments

The Satanic Temple, an established New York City-based religious organization, has offered to donate a public monument to Oklahoma’s Capitol Preservation Commission for display upon Oklahoma City’s capitol grounds. Described as an “homage” to Satan, the purpose of the monument is to complement and contrast the Ten Commandments monument that already resides on the North side of the building. The donation offer has been submitted and is currently awaiting the commission’s reply.

As reprehensible as something like that might be, let 'em. Why? Freedom of speech. If they can pay for it (and not taxpayers), allow them to do it. If you don't let them, then atheists and others that are hostile toward Christianity and Nativity crèches, etc., unfortunately can legitimately say "what's good for the goose is good for that gander".

I haven't looked into the details yet, but my guess is that in order for the 10 commandments monument to remain on public grounds, the gov't has to allow memorials from other religions to be erected on public grounds, too.
You made an assertion based on a law that you haven't looked into?

Nothing like a statue of the Devil being erected in American public space to convince Christians that the power of Satan is very real in this country, and compel them to act

Witchhunts are a thing of the past. A monument to Satan will change all that.

Interesting times.:)

That wasn't Horsie's assertion; that was the title of the web page.

Considering the fact that the people trying to put up this monument aren't residents of Oklahoma, I really don't see why Oklahoma has to put up this monument.

They probably don't -- but they would need to provide an explanation why they wouldn't.

The one you've just provided is good for now -- at least until one local Satanist takes up the cause.

I didn't reference the article title
What's up with the waving smiley? Do you think people need to see you wave so as to garner attention to yourself?
Is adult dialog without the waving display not something you're able to do?

I wasn't talking about you misrepresenting the article's actual title. That was the OP authors doing. Which is what I was talking about.

This is the Oklahoma bill/law the satanists are attempting to exploit:
HB1330

If the satanists plan on using any of the material from LaVey's ghost written monstrosity of plagiarism cover to cover,"The Satanic Bible", they'll be shooting themselves in their own cloven hoofs. LaVey's ghost writer stole the majority of the SB content from Nietzsche, Rand, and Redbeard.

Had to invoke LaVey's satanic tenets on any kind of monument without invoking the legal wrath of copyright infringement.

I don't think Satanists and witches are the same people. And from what I've read, Satanists don't actually worship Satan...

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. But, Satan symbolizes evil. So in this case it's a matter of what's evil, not what's good. Satan stands against human rights, you know.
