My mother listens to him. Daily and religiously.

Your mother needs serious prayer. That's all I can say. It took me over 10yrs to get all the Copeland error out of me. He's seriously a dangerous person to trust to teach you the Word of God since he has thrown the Torah away. He actually has nothing to say without the Torah. Pray for your mother.

Same thing I say about my own Mother and sister.

They are still engrained with all those teachings and its hard to tear away from Pentecostals because every Pentecostal religion endorses him.

Anybody who seeks to find a way of justifying living luxuriously will find it.
Anybody who wants to rationalize their misdeeds will find a way.

I'm just assuming that this woman is going into a teaching about 2 Thess and the man of perdition, the lawless one.

Anybody who had tosses away the law will find a way to rationalize this scripture of lawlessness will find a way.

The scripture is about people who sit in the place of God speaking against the law of God, proving that they are God.

Its not talking about a single individual, its talking about the man of sin in everyone, and his being revealed.,

People are walking temples to themselves, and when they have rejected the laws of God, they sit in their temple against everything that is called of God because a great falling away has taken place.

Its Ironic that somebody with the mentality who stands behind Kenneth Copeland is going to teach about the lawless one who has done away with the ways of God.

So true! :) In fact, if you have not already done so, if one was to look up the usages of "katecho" within its various contexts, and where and how it is used elsewhere, it becomes even more clear that what restrains, (katecho) "lawlessness" is the retaining of Truth, (Torah and the interpretations of it provided by the Master in Gospel accounts). One of the most revealing contexts where it is found comes in the Parable of the Sower:

Luke 8:15 ~ "But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, (katecho) and bring forth fruit with patience."

I never thought it was that serious of a problem until now, I'm not fond of him, but I tolerated her following of him.

He preaches that prosperity gospel, which does bother me.

It is almost imperceptible.. only the truth via Holy Spirit can give you the "chalkboard scratch" signal all is not well with his leadings.

Hi there newbie!

I noticed your title says you are a former Jew, I was wondering how that is possible? Did you convert and then 'unconvert'?

I was a part of that satanic c__p for over 15yrs and can't understand how a normal, intelligent, and born-skeptic could get sucked in, but I was. Hook, line and sinker. All the way. With one exception, I never did the glossalalia (not sure of the spelling). Back then and even now, I could not be hypnotized, because I refuse to relinquish control over my brain - but yet I was still sucked in.
I've spoken in a language unknown to me twice in my life. Both times it was a real language (a Japanese dialect, and a Korean dialect) and people were brought to belief and salvation. The entire time I heard English only, but they heard their language. I was told after the fact that I'd been speaking to them in their language. THAT is tongues, not that satanic junk.

That's why I quit speaking in tongues after so many decades but I don't know if I would go so far as to call it Satanic{maybe}. I would like to think of it more as a tool people might use to settle them down and that's what I used it for.

I believed in it and so it helped, I always cried when doing it because I believed in it.

But I would say that you are correct, that speaking in tongues is a bridge between God and the hearer.

When the people heard God's voice at Sinai, they saw the fire that hovered over them in voice, a voice so extreme as to be able to see the ripple of air it disturbed.

The people said,'' OH MOSES! Do not let God speak to us again lest we die.

So on the next Pentecost we see that same fire above the heads of those who spoke for God, to the people.

I might say it was Satanic in the same way that Jesus told Peter, '' get behind me Satan.'' Because Peter was thinking from the flesh which symbolizes Satan.

That when we speak with the spirit of the man of flesh, that he is the man of Satan in all of us.

YES!! To the people. Walking into a room full of people speaking gibberish is not uplifting to anyone but the individuals doing the noise-making. It is not edifying in the least, and that's what "tongues" is supposed to be, edifying and for the UNbeliever that they might believe. And how is that possible? For an individual to speak the word of God to them in their own language that is not a known language to the speaker. The gibberish is pure flesh, perhaps satanic was a bit harsh, but fleshly it truly is.

Oh, I converted to Judaism and then to Lutheranism and later Catholicism. Unless you mean, once a Jew, always a Jew.

So what brings you to this corner of the woods?

As I have stated, I'm still Torah abiding. I have a love for Judaism and cherish my time as a Reformed Jew. You can sorta kinda call me a Messianic Jew, but I identify as an Eastern-rite Catholic and Torah abiding Christian.

Didn't all the other Reformed Jews tell you that it's Reform, not "Reformed"? :D

MRi shows that not even the speech center is engaged... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZbQBajYnEc&feature=youtube_gdata_player.Univ of Penn. study examines people who speak in tongues with MRI which proves the speech center is not working. The passionate, sometimes rhythmic, language-like patter that pours forth from religious people who “speak in tongues” reflects a state of mental possession, many of them say. Now they have some neuroscience to back them up.

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania took brain images of five women while they spoke in tongues and found that their frontal lobes — the thinking, willful part of the brain through which people control what they do — were relatively quiet, as were the language centers. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/07/health/07brain.html?_r=0
