Yes it is. I tried to explain our dear sister katherine. And now it's explained to her again, by some other users. I'm out...

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind "female deacons" as Katherine implies them. It is already custom that female laity do pastoral ministries and even do liturgies of the word throughout the Catholic world. And they do a good job at least in my parish.

But at the moment the deaconate won't be opened for women in the cc.

So why think about things that can't be or aren't changed at the moment over and over again?

When a child - our Deacon where i grew up was married and he was at our Church forever and he lived down the street from us and i played with his kids... he was like 40 something back then.

I have no idea how old you are. The diaconate was something reformed by Vatican Council II after a long debate in the Council. Before then, deacons were celibate and transitional.

And I don't disagree that it may be imprudent at this time. No disagreement.
