I thought so, since most christians globally are against the apartheid regime in israel and active demonstrate against it. I see it that way, that Israel serves USA as tool in the middle east. Divide et Impera. Israel creates a constant state of conflict and weakens the regional powers. From that, american interests are served. To hold large parts of the american public in line, that religious "connection" was spread. Thats my idea about that.

That's basically precisely what happened. Lots of political lobbyist money, and an extremely popular Christian book series, Left Behind, in which Jews and Israel were portrayed as a very superior "Chosen People" that God loved much more and gives special divine privileges. Many Americans accepted the book as theologically accurate, even though the books are absolutely terrible.

The good thing about humanity is, that we have all that different cultures. Yours and ours.
Just to be clear, I do not attribute your attempts to denigrate Israel as indicative of Japenese culture in any way.

In my opinion its not worth the effort

I wonder what your opinion is worth? :p

The Israelis have only been going at it for a few years, give them time and the % rate will be more impressive...and don't forget some of the land was also given over to malarial swamp land.

I'm not a beggar and i find some missionary attempts annoying.

Hey...you have a missionary aspect to your life in promoting your sun-goddess...my concern is merely that you are putting your trust or faith into something that is like a fairy-tale, rather than the Saviour of your soul.

There are a lot of Americans on this forum, so you see a lot of cheerleading for them no matter what they do. I agree that it's kind of absurd.

Oh, and with all the comments on Israeli terrain, we might also keep in mind that significant portions of that land are illegally occupied and aren't truly Israeli at all.

What's this a sort of Orthodox Shintoism...interesting bed-fellows.

Might want to check yer facts on the Georgetown story. Georgetown itself says that it was to provide aneutral backdrop for apolicy speech similar to what they have donemany times before.

All Georgetown insignia are covered and simple flags and drapes are used. In this case the flags and drape were not high enought to cover all of the G town insignia and so that the cross and IHS on the top would not appear out of context the added the board.

The original response was that

Julie Green Bataille said:
In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday’s event, Georgetown honored the White House staff’s request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage

source

And was later changed to the idea that his people never asked for the IHS to be covered. After some Catholics were a little upset over it.

But it reallyhelps build out the conspiracy theory if the facts are ignored.

I wonder why people marginalize each new outcry the right comes up with?

Yes, because every time someone doesn't agree with you, they're obviously conspiracy theorists. I guess mocking a political side and insulting a person is easier than addressing the point of the thread (which you failed to do).

Er, Left Behind had nothing to do with people having that position. That'd be like saying Twilight is a major reason why a lot of teenage girls have terrible taste in books.

Maybe it's just me, but I've met quite a few people who seem to think Left Behind is practically part of the Book of Revelation.

But maybe I was a little hyperbolic. I really can't stand that series after all.

Or you could, you know, explain it to me. But why bother when you can just act cryptic and refuse to say anything worthwhile?

My point was that you are breaking in on something unnecessarily and that it doesn't seem to matter to you whom you side with as long as you diss the nasty Zionists...I had hoped you might see the form of the conversation was actually going beyond the Middle-East issue and touching on eternal destiny but you were oblivious to what was taking place.

I was not trying to be cryptic, I was trying to gently steer you into understanding the wider issues without blatantly spelling it out for you...I hope now you are enlightened and no longer see this as a riddle.

From what I have heard, the latest in the series are overtly fictional.

Dunno bro...I think they feed something in some Christians that I just can't understand...maybe it is because they appear to lend substance to escatological theology that is difficult to grasp in a sequential manner and with any degree of certainty.

See my above post.

I don't see anything in Ms. Batallie's post demanding that all references to Jesus be covered. Here's the full quote sent to both Conservative News Service and the Washington Times:

In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday’s event, Georgetown honored the White House staff’s request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage.

The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they’ve done for other policy speeches. Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn’t high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context.

That reads to me like the extent of coverage was Georgetown's decision, not the President's or his people.

Btw, linking it to an article that starts out suggesting people who disagree with the action think he's a secret Muslim makes me take your post a whole lot less seriously.

That's pretty rich coming from someone who chose to source his assertion with a Conservative News Service article written nearly a month (May 7th) after the event (Apr 14th).

Anyway, if you'd gotten beyond your attempt to poison the well and actually attempted to address the content of that blog entry, you'd have noticed:

- The Muslim comment was a snarky, parenthetical response to Zietgeist, not the main point of his opening paragraph. If you'd look at the comments on the very CNS article to which you linked, you'd have noticed manifestations of that very Zeitgeist.
- The intent, it would seem to me, is to defer to Muslims.
- I am very disillusioned that Georgetown University complied with Obama's request. to cover up Christian symbols which offend him. Does he do the same when he speaks at a mosque?
- THAT is because he IS A MU SLIM...He can LIE about it ALL HE WANTS, but he ADMITS that he WAS a MU SLIM in Indonesia, and IF you understand their ideology, you CANNOT change to Christian AFTER you have been a Mu slim--OR THEY K I L L YOU.

They are ALSO told to LIE to achieve Islam worldwide....and he is GOOD at lying....
- Obama Has Sent Message of Respect For All Religions--‘in Particular of Islam’

The Jesuits at Georgetown should be excommunicated.
- He can celebrate Ramadan in the White House, quote the quran but not be seen with Christian symbols even though he claims to be Christian. Hypocritical, aren't they.
- Meanwhile, back in the blog entry, David Brody of CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network, Pat Robertson's operation) notes:
Also, other still pictures from the event show portraits of Jesus in the background which are off center from the stage. In addition, I can tell you that it has been my experience on the campaign trail that advance teams do typically make backdrops as generic as possible. It’s pretty much standard fare to make them that way.

Also, the fact that Georgetown University actually has a perfectly fit triangle piece to cover up the cross and monogram suggests that they have done this before at other events. We are waiting on Georgetown to provide us a response to that question.
Bold mine.
-And the very first comment on Gibson's blog entry is:
Thank you for you sane post in this “non-issue”. Your hunch is correct because when the local Jewish community uses Gaston Hall, as they do every year, to celebrate the High Holy Days, out of respect for Jewish sensibilities, the IHS is covered up. Unfortunately, your sense that the situation was going viral has materialized. I would say it is now toxic.

Looks to me like these things pretty much debunk your assertion that:
Was it a blunder, though? I only ask because when Barry visited Georgetown in April of '09, Obama's staff made them cover up the backdrop because it showed the symbol of the Jesuits, which includes "IHS" (which stands for Jesus). So why didn't they catch this?
Bold mine.
