(RNS) Americans’ acceptance of gays and lesbians is continuing to grow, with a new poll showing that just over a third of Americans view homosexuality as a sin, down from 44 percent a year earlier.

Would that be because the orientation, homosexuality, is not a sin?

I suspect it is.

If you asked about illicit sex - sex outside of marriage - the results would be interesting.

By the way, why is it that this forum has so many threads about homosexual people that try to fix them up or make them straight or tell them that they are wicked or sinners or doomed or some such thing? Why not spend one's time in more accurately reflecting church teaching on morals - an area of teaching far broader than questions on same sex attraction and such?

Yes & sexually active homosexuals.

I do. They are ignored. You can always contact the Church, the bloggers or whatever. But homosexuality is a hot topic in OBOB. Topic or not, someone will always bring it up.

As far as calling homosexuals wicked, or encouraging them to go straight, or doomed to hell...you'll have to point that out to me because I do not recall posting any such thing.

Unless you are just going for dramatic effect.

Not for dramatic effect and not referring only to your posts, OBOB has a lot of contributors and some seem to think that homosexual people need to become straight, others say they are in serious, even mortal, sin, and no doubt some think they are doomed.

Homosexuality has grown because the notion that it is contrary to nature has gone silent in society.

Because of that, Christians tend to want to bring it up more often, in a more militant way, reminding others that it is sinful.

If anything, it sways other Christians from getting swallowed in the lie that it isn't sinful. Once a person starts to tread on the idea that homosexuality is okay, or some other mortally errant belief, their entire approach to God changes. It's just the truth of the matter, because such things open up doors to more mortally wrong notions.
