I wasn't here much then, were his political opponents here respectful for a day or two, or was there a lot of bashing going on?
Well I don't know around here. I only joined a short while ago. By "we" I meant those of us who are not liberal democrats.

So were those of you who were asked to be respectful here or in other forums when Sen Kennedy died, respectful for a few days?

I remember a few people saying things that made me cringe. But I also remember being one of the people who said "Come on, the guy just died." For the most part, people "respected the dead" at least for a little while.

Goodbye, Judge Bork—Goodbye, My Friend...
As it happened, I was able to spend a couple of hours between flights with Bob Bork just ten days before he died, and I got to tell him of my gratitude for so much friendship and laughter over the past quarter-century, of my admiration for his depth, and—embarrassing him, as I knew this would—of my love for him.

Just chiming in on the "liberal" thing. Hillary Clinton prefers the title of "Progressive" (or at least that what she said.) Would be easier to just say Dems since the Progressives have all but "taken over" the Dem party, besides the Dems were not always "liberals" ("progressives"), but that wouldn't be accurate either. (The Dems used to be along the lines of classical liberalism (like the country was founded on--limited government, individualism, fiscal responsibility. Unfortunately, I think JFK was the last classical libera--"A rising tide lifts all boats"). There were (and are) Progressive Repubs too (like Teddy Roosevelt) who was also a eugenist, like the new crop of Progressives seem to be.

Just in case, you say that this is just Repub "talking points", I think I should remind folks that although I used to be a Dem., I belong to no party now--I consider the country's well-being instead.
