You are also in favour of making it as hard as it can be... for people who are already struggling.
I am that way because of the abuse. The harder it is the less likely people want to be on it.

strong Christian republican conserve will husband condition like go away?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking?

The only thing that would potentially make his condition go away would be a heart transplant, but he isn't eligible for the list if he isn't dying. That's a pretty fun catch-22 to be in :-/

um odd I would think they would want to get you on the list before you were actually dying because otherwise the more likely you are to die.

The only people who "want" welfare are drug addicts. Everyone else actually needs it. It is REALLY hard to be on welfare. REALLY hard.

I get $300 a month. It goes by income. I can't give figures for anyone but myself. But the thing is, how does he know that they do? I shop at the same store, buying the same food, as everyone else. There isn't even anything there that's expensive except for meats, but I pay the same price as anyone else for those.

You believe that people want to be on it? You say that you don't want government assistance. But you assume that everyone else wants to be on it?

because it just seemed odd that they would give them so much.

What do you mean so much? $300 for a four person family isn't "so much"

It doesn't just magically reload when it runs out by the way. It's not a credit card. You get $300 a month, and if you only have $2.00 left you can't buy a $3.00 gallon of milk.

What do you mean so much?

I used to do budgeting with my clients at my old job and where I used to live in Virginia $50-75 a week is pretty average for a single person. That's $200-300 right there depending on the person. My husband and I are probably averaging about $150 per week. That's $600 a month for two people, and I look for coupons.

Actually, right now I'm mad because I used to always get save $4 off your next shopping trip at Acme with my receipts. I haven't gotten one in a while. Grrrrrr.....

Also, food is more expensive in PA. The same loaf of bread that I paid $1.99 for in VA is $3 here. That's just one example, but everything from a half gallon of milk to rice, beans, meat, etc - it's all more expensive. The only thing that isn't more expensive is dog food and soda.

That is what he said I guess it depends on how you choose to use it. If you choose to buy top quality meat it will not last as long. People on the system they are allowed to have credit cards right?

Most people in the system don't have the credit to get a credit card. I don't. I don't even have the credit to get a secured card. People who have good credit have it because they pay their bills on time. People who can pay their bills on time don't qualify for welfare.

so is it illegal for people to have credit then? because I could give you credit as the way credit is defined is basically allowing someone to defer paying on something. If you had your card and I knew you and you didn't have quite enough to buy something I could loan you five dollars that is credit.

You're losing me. People have BAD credit, not NO credit. I've been evicted twice. I couldn't get into my apartment without my sister cosigning. And if you knew me, you wouldn't want to "loan" me five dollars because you would know I won't be able to pay it back any time soon. You might as well just give it to me and call it an act of kindness.

OH I see what you are saying it is not that it illegal for you to take a loan from someone or have a credit card but since you can't pay for things (otherwise you would not be on walfare you just cannot get it to start with?

Yes. I couldn't even get a loan from my mom. Not because she's a bad person, but because she knows full well that I might say I'll pay her back when I get my paycheck, but my paycheck will be gone once I pay my bills. So if she gives me something, it is a gift, and not a loan.

gifts are good, as long as they are either VERY clear or better yet in writing.
