Excuses for Not Covering Benghazi

There are rising calls for more reporting on the consular attack in Benghazi. Our poor press is beleaguered, and certainly too busy covering Sandy and the election to respond.

In fact, they’re so busy they apparently can’t think up good excuses for not covering Benghazi. At least, I haven’t seen any reasons disclosed publicly. They just don’t seem to see, hear, or say anything about it.

To help them out, I thought I would come up with a nice, prefab list of excuses....

• Sorry, I missed your question because I just came from a meeting with Obama. Let me wipe my mouth and then hear it again....

• Dead ambassador? Oh, yeah, I heard something about that. Something about a video that caused a riot. What a shame. But gosh, that was six weeks ago. Old news....

• I’m afraid of politicizing that story this close to an election. Yeah, I did report Romney’s premature comments on it, and asked him a dozen times if he regrets his remarks. So?...

• Too busy writing my story about how Hurricane Sandy depressed Democratic voting in Philadelphia, so Obama losing Pennsylvania was an act of God. Certainly not a repudiation of Obama. Nope. No way. ...

They quickly release BO in the situation room to monitor Sandy. I wonder why they don't release one of him monitoring the Benghazi attack?

First the response in the situation room during the Benghazi attack would be classified.

Second, the press is not failing to cover the attack, but with an on-going investigation there is little new to cover. So far, most of the right-wing attacks have proven to be false. For example, the right attacked Obama because an Islamic militant group took credit for the attack, but the fact is that it is highly doubtful they did it. So really the OP's question is "Why isn't the press reporting speculation about the attack?". The answer is simple, it's not their job to report uncorroborated speculation.

My question was rhetorical Kermit. I know why it wasn't released and all of your above post shows you to be drastically uninformed.

That seems to be the case. All the articles I've come across so far seem to be all speculation, innuendo, and a load of hot air.

The attendance of those meetings is classified. A photo would show all or some of who was in attenance. Also, it's likely that photos would include classified documents or information in the background.

1. That he wasn't there and shirked his duty.

2. That he was there and allowed Americans to be killed with no help.

3. No matter whether he was there or not...he LIED about a video.

That is why you won't see a photo of Obama in the situation room during the Benghanzi attack.

Odd how the release of those didn't spill info all over the place and yet the Benghazi one would?

Did you see classified documents/info anywhere in the released ones? No and you wouldn't in the Benghazi ones either.

Also, the reason for no photo of Obama in situation room for the Benghazi attack is simple. He was in HI when the attack occurred. The situation room was thousands of miles away.

That's strange. I heard he was in the Rose Garden lying about his "terror" remark and I heard he was in Vegas campaigning (the same day) but I sure didn't hear anything about him being in Hawaii.
