changes their name to ChurchMilitantTV

I wish I could say I thought this was primarily an act of obedience to the bishop of Detroit, but since Michael Voris made it clear he had no intention of obeying the bishop and said “Hey! I just work here” while trying to defer it to Marc Brammer and his bishop (Rhoades of South Bend, IN), I’m skeptical that’s what’s driving it. In fact, it looks more like an attempt to cover up his link with Marc Brammer and E. Michael Jones, whom Voris gave a college try at mainstreaming a few weeks ago.
It’s not clear who owns ChurchMilitant.TV from its WhoIs. It was registered through a proxy, presumably for reasons of privacy. My money is on the bet that it is still under Brammer and Jones’ Ultra Montane Associates. So I think people still need to be wary. The proof, of course, will be in the pudding. If further efforts are made to mainstream Jones, you’ll know. If not, then good for them and I applaud them from backing away from conflating anti-Jewish kookery and its apologists with Real Catholic Faith[TM].

And no, it is not “uncharitable” to be wary of this move, especially since Brammer himself has made clear that he means to place himself in a position where he cannot be under the jurisdiction of a bishop. This fits that game plan.

So let’s see what they do next.

I agree with this commenter...I also like her name, Aimee.

I agree with you, Mark. I watched RCTV for a year or so several years ago, but came to dislike it and quit. It was so negative, Voris a bitter, self-appointed prosecutor, judge, and jury. And the style of the show – calculated to get attention and cause scandal, like reading the tabloids in the supermarket. Even if what he says is true, it is done in a way so lacking in charity as to be a source of scandal in itself.

ChurchMilitant – what a perfect name for a militant, defiant guy like Voris. I’m sure it will just be more of the same, only worse. And I don’t look forward to the day when he bites the dust for good, like so many other Catholic “heroes” of recent fame who got a little too carried away with themselves, their popularity, their power, only to suffer the most humiliating public fall from grace.

And for those who’d like to shut you up, Mark – good grief, Voris makes a living out of publicly criticizing others. Yet no one is supposed to criticize him? Have people learned nothing from the Corapis and Euteneuers of this world, their supporters hotly shouting down everyone else because of what “heroes” for the faith they were? Yet look how they turned out.

The only heroes in my book are the saints – and they didn’t go around publicly criticizing and defying their bishops while trying to squirm around all the rules.

Sometimes, I like the man; other times, I did not. I find that more often than not, he's right. I grew disinterested as he grew increasingly repetitive; repeating much that I'd already read elsewhere. Perhaps something else as well? ---- However, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it?

Just my take upon it.

Of course, anyone could be divisive. The Truth itself is divisive. However, is what he is saying:

1. True
2. Being spoken with or through Love

And if it not the Truth being Spoken in Love; then he ought to quit. If he is speaking the hard truths with love, that the bishops and clergy are not willing to say; then I'd say more power to him.

However, the question is: What is he doing exactly?

I went off Voris around the time I started to think that the self-appointed Guardians of Orthodoxy who patrol the Catholic parts of the internet could be a bit over-zealous and a little off-putting. My main criticism of him would be that he is divisive, which if it isn't a big issue, should be.

Even as a Conservative Catholic, Voris scares me. I never have liked his videos.

I didn't like his attitude, even when I agreed with what he was saying (which was most of the time) and I suspect that his methods cause more harm than good. He seemed....well, he seemed kind of mean....and kinda insincere. His attitude toward his Bishop confirmed about him what I always figured to be true.

Something about him always made my spidey-sence tingle. I never was a Corapi fan for the same reason.

Bingo. Even when I did agree with what he was saying, it was the way he said it that put me off. He always came off as a pompous, holier-than-thou kinda guy. (He seems to fit the negative stereotype of TLM attendees, that you often see flung about)

In conclusion, as my mother says "It's not what you say, it's how you say it".

Yea; he's not representative of TLM attendees. Sorry, not having Him pushed upon TLM-goers. He still touts the New Order ----I highly doubt that He attends the TLM. Saying [that I'm] Not a fan by a long shot is an understatement; or rather, putting it very politely.

Huh, I thought he mentioned one time that he attended the TLM regularly.
Anyhow, If I didn't already go, he would've turned me off big time.

I always hate whenever folks say they'll be 'turned off' because of so-and-so. I've always had the attitude, 'By Gosh, I'm going to be Catholic and attend anyways. And I'll be damned (not literally, of course! ;) ) if I let anyone stop me just because they cannot behave themselves.'

Sorry, It tends to infuriate me whenever I see folks using others' bad behaviour as an excuse to avoid a Catholic mass altogether. Particularly, whenever they do not know for certain, that all persons who go to a particular mass are like the aforementioned ill-behaved gent.

You've got my ire up*, heh heh. :p

I'm rather defensive of the Traditional Latin Mass. (In case, you've not figured that out!) It's a gift and work of the Holy Ghost. I tend to value it tenaciously. And encourage others to attend this very holy, reverent rite of God.

*(Nothing against ya, ladd. Just a bit fiery, upon certain holy things of God's; this being one of them! :) No worries!)

I watch it every now and then but not as much as I used to. I usually only watch it when they are talking about something that interests me. But even then I think Michael Voris could be a little more charitable.

Personally, I think the man is a bafoon and the set and show are cheap and low budget.. he tries to "make waves" and cause controversy.. I don't believe that Catholocism needs him or his theatrics at this time.. Most Cathoiics I speak to who have seen him think he's a joke, and I tend to agree...

"Buffoon." But I divagate. ;)

I like Michael Voris. I am also a Tridentine Mass only Catholic. I went to RCIA in a Novus Ordo-only church. Sadly, I wasn't taught proper Catechesis and, upon reflection, the RCIA staff seemed enamored with the "reforms" of the Second Vatican Council. I bought into it. Needless to say, I don't anymore.

First and foremost, I had enough of the absolute lack of reverence for God in the Novus Ordo "mass" and now attend a genuine, Tridentine Mass-only parish.

Oh, and welcome to OBOB. :)
