Bristol Palin Has A Bone To Pick With Obama Over Gay Marriage - ABC News

The former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant chastised the president for allowing his young daughters Sasha, 10, and Malia, 13, to influence his stance on gay marriage.
In an exclusive interview with ABC News on Wednesday, Obama said that his daughters “have friends whose parents are same-sex couples.”
“There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently,” Obama said. “It doesn’t make sense to them and, frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”
In a blog posted Thursday, Palin criticized the president for consulting his “teenage daughters” — emphasizing the word “teenage” — when making “a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation.”
“I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox,” Palin wrote.

Obama should listen to this seasoned authority on political matters.

Bristol wants to chastise the President for discussing and observing his daughter’s views on some sexual matters.

I assume Bristol would want the President to consult a mature adult parent like her mother Sarah. Too bad Bristol did not pay any attention to her mother’s views on sex outside of marriage and having a child out of wedlock.

I don’t think that 22 year old Bristol should be advising the president on an issue that has been controversial for more years than Bristol has been alive.

Sarah got married on August 29, 1988. Her first-born, Track, was born on April 20, 1989. I smell a shotgun wedding. So much for no sex before marriage.

Hmmm... less than 8 months, unless my math is off.

Could be that Bristol is jealous, thinking about all those kids out there who will have two fathers, while hers still has none.

Based on our choices currently, I'd support Dora for President (whoever Dora is)

Anyway, I really could care less what Bristol Palin thinks about it.

Though I do find it interesting that Obama's kids have such an effect on his life and decisions, especially in such ones as this. And it sounds like a good thing, to be honest, that his kids are of such importance to him in this day and age that their comments and expereinces factor so heavily into his thought process.

While I would admit that Bristol Palin is not on my list of people that I would seek moral guidance from, she does point something out that drives me crazy about politicians (mostly democratic politicians). Why must every major policy decision come with some personal story? The state of the union addresses are simply filled with a parade of people who are individually afffected by some policy or other. Is it really necessary? Must the nation be made aware that Ruth Thompson of Muncie Indiana received a new hip with help from the National Health Care Act? Must I know that Abe Tillman of Cedar Key Florida was able to buy his grandson a new baseball mitt with the tax rebate check he received?

I find the strategy of personalizing everything to be nothing more than shameless pandering.

As i recall, Jimmy Carter consulted his daughter regarding nuclear disarmament, now Barack is consulting his daughters on social issues.

Can it be any coincidence that the two worst presidents in recent American history are those who based their policies on their daughters opinions?

Looking at their counterparts in recent history, one would plainly see why they would neglect their daughters.

Interesting how those who preach "family values" are so quick to ignore their own.

No wonder the country is such a mess, with so many parents trying to be pals and equals with their children. Children need parents to guide and teach them because they haven't learned to make reasonable decisions for themselves. I find it disturbing when parent's put that much pressure on young children. They're not ready to make those decisions. Obama shows dangerously poor judgment by allowing his children's purely emotional reactions to so dramatically color his public policy decisions. Parents, it's time to grow up and be adults.

Would that I knew what you were trying to say with that comment.
