Who have what they don't. Why can't they just be happy for you instead of trying to cheat you and take away the little you have?

A bit more detail would go a long way, like a few examples of when this jealous manifested.
Having said that it might be wrong to paint all black people with the same brush because black people differ and so does black culture. You have Africans,African-Americans,Carribeans for starters.Among Africans West Africans are different from Southern Africans who have a bit more in common with Eastern Africans then Central Africans with their own culture.Colonial masters also left their footprints among African culture and former English colonies are different to the French colonies and Portuguese colonies.Among those regions you also have countries and tribes within those countries. Some tribes are more united than others, some help each other more than others and when someone does well it's celebrated by many.Naturally you will have some 'pull him down syndromme' among some black communities because there are some who get relief from knowing they are not the only once suffering so I think you should narrow your claims down.
People tend to generalise blacks but even statistics will show the differences in Black communities regardless of where you go e.g levels of education in Black African Communities and Carribeans vs African Americans are always so markedly different whether you are in the UK or USA and so do their levels of income.Criminal activities within those communities are different too and statistics like marriages, divorce etc so this 'why do black people...' is too much of generalisation.

Um, just for the record, I'm black, and I'm speaking frome experience, having spent quite some time in black communities back home and in Africa.

You could be an African chief and black to the bone but your opening statement sounds more like generalisation.Maybe specific situations as examples could go a long way because for all we know it could be a class thing which has nothing to do with skin colour.I'm not denying that jealous exists,it's a human phenomenon but is it more in blacks than others or in certain black communities?

Specific situtions such as gossiping and staring if I don't know the language or trying to cheat me out of the little money I have or feeling entitled to it. It's clearly based on the fact that I grew up abroad (speaking about Africa here, I can give you specifics in private).

Cheating happens in business, try buying a second hand car, most of the times people will not tell you the car's problems because you wouldn't buy the car so the onus is on the buyer to eliminate the risks by hiring someone who knows to check the car. On another note everytime I go to buy some chips and chicken at my local Asian takeaway they give me small pieces of chicken until I complain lol (call me greedy if you want but I always want a fair deal) then they give me the bigger pieces.Of course not every Asian shop will try to short change me but are these cases isolated to those communities because of race or because of the business the people are in?Even in the bible Jews used to change scales say when selling food and tell you a 1 pound weight was a kilogram (whatever units they were using) so business has risks.I think people just try to maximise their revenue by hook or sinker that's why we need to be wise.
Please note I'm not denying jealous exists but even your non black neighbours might not have good feelings if you park a Rolls Royce Ghost when everyone else is driving a Ford Mondeo.

I could ask the same question about white people. But that would also be a generalization.

Envy is part of the human condition, across all ethnicities and cultures. But I have friends who are black and white who aren't the envious sort at all.

Why are Calvinist Italian-Americans born in Texas always jealous of what other Calvinist Italian-Americans born in Texas have? It's just so annoying.

I have another question about black people: why do they always play the race card? It's just annoying.

Racism continues to be an issue and a real obstacle for many people. It's irritating that so many people try to disregard those who bring up this issue as playing a 'card'.

I find this has more to do with culture, it's a sad true fact that many little African American children come from a culture that breeds a selfish, prideful, and materialistic standard

You'd actually be surprised at the black on black racism that goes on in the black culture, black people can be very hard on other black people, but again that stems from culture that demands that a person act and look a certain way in order to be accepted. In other words, even other black people can be too black or too white for other black people, it has nothing to do with ethnicity but with how you dress, act, and where your values lay.

Personally, I've know some really awesome black and white people even from the "ghetto/hip hop" scene, so it also has a lot to do with heart, since nobody is ever a carbon copy of anybody(not even twins).

In short, there are morally corrupt people and morally sound people, and within that scene are people from different cultures who put values on different things. Where ever you go you are going to run into "human" issues(selfish materialism is a big one) but they tend to manifest in different ways depending on the values that said human has been raised around...or something like that >.<

(I'm speaking from personal experience and conversations I've had with both white and black people )

(There is of course another side to this story that involves the racism of white towards blacks in america but honestly that just another can of worms I do not want to open >.< )

Hmmm, as an African/American woman, I have experienced the jealousy that the OP is stating. However, ALL of us are not like that. I have a great community and we generally show love and support to one another. I am blessed. And like someone else mentioned in their reply, envy, jealousy, and gossip are HUMAN conditions and happens in ALL nationalities and racial communities. As for someone who asked why blacks play the race card? Good question. While racism is alive, so is sexism, ageism, classim, peopleism. And while racism is real, EVERY situation that plays out between people of different races is not a RACIAL issue. And as a African/American woman, I do agree, that (generally) some Blacks do play the race card all too often without having solid information on a particular situation. Its all sad tho, can't we just love one another and have a good day? LOL

Every race deals with this, it's solely a problem with blacks. This is an issue that plagues the human race.

This. I don't think any of the black or latino students that I mentor like the fact that people treat them as criminals or degenerates because of their skin color. For someone to say that somehow decrying this attitude as being a 'card', is bunch of ish.

I agree, when it is personal. If I am being treated a certain way because of my outer appearance, yes, it is racial. If my son is having racial slurs thrown at him, then yes, it is racial. But if I'm looking at a story on TV, and one man hurts another and they just so happen to be of different races, a lot of people assume (hence, assume) that it is racial. Oh yes, racial divisions are real. Racial hatred is real. And many brown skinned people have experienced it. But guess what? Whites have experienced it too. And it feels good for no one. But for people to assume something without having the facts is like they just need some sort of justification based on skin color. It doesn't help the situation.
