Fixed that for you.

There is a bad history between the two. Neither side has clean hands.

I think it is better to treat people as individuals than to broad brush them for the bad things done by radicals using the same banner.

I am now curious to see the show, despite my distaste towards reality television.

They are responsible for their actions.

They chose to appease the FFA and they deserve any criticism that comes with that.

I am doubtful they "chose to appease the FFA" as opposed to choosing to appease their profit margin. I think this decision was an economic one, not a religious one on behalf of Lowes.

FFA is known for advocating boycotts. FFA has in the past or is presently boycotting Snickers, Disney, Marvel, and a few others. On this occasion, FFA e-mailed its members to contact Lowe's and advocate the company rescind its advertising for the show. Apparently, a sufficiently large enough number of people did contact Lowe's requesting they pull their advertising to cause Lowe's to be concerned enough to rescind their advertising of the show. Lowe's then made a statement. "Individuals and groups have strong political and societal views on this topic, and this program became a lightning rod for many of those views," the statement said. "As a result we did pull our advertising on this program. We believe it is best to respectfully defer to communities, individuals and groups to discuss and consider such issues of importance."

Lowe's was seeking to avert a boycott precipitated by FFA. They didn't choose to appease FFA as much as they desired to keep their profits from being reduced by a boycott.

Wait. You mean these big, evil corporations can be bullied by consumers? I thought big business bullied us. Hard to keep these left wing arguments straight.
Another insult of liberals based on illogical thinking. One can bully and be bullied.

Sorry, it is difficult for me to tolerate hate.
Hate being that which you describe as hate.

If you see me as being intolerant for being intolerant to hate, so be it.
As I said, the very definition of intolerance

I guess Lowe's really wanted both their advocates.

Both history and current events show that Islam is inherently hostile toward non-Islamic cultures, particularly Western culture.
I suggest you read more history - from a non-Barlow source.

MachZer0, that is why you are so much better person than me.

I can acknowledge my shortcomings and prejudices.

Interesting. The Florida Family Association and Lowe's demonstrated what we call freedom while the California senator demonstrated what we call tyranny. Kudos to those who stand for freedom

You do. Just like the members of the Florida Family Association. Freedom in action

Good gravy. I agree with Mach.

I certainly wouldn't claim that it's the end of the world or even that an incredibly important story but it does seem to point to bigotry.

Were you similarly outraged when a small group of progressives pressured sponsors of Glenn Beck's show to leave? Wasn't that bigotry against conservative and libertarian ideology? This is essentially the same thing. A small vocal group didn't like what was going on in the show, as it offended their values, and then applied pressured to sponsors to drop it. There was NO outrage then. Why now?

*Note* I am a progressive, so don't assume I am filled with a conservative bias or something *Note*

This was just a reality show about a Muslim family. People are offended simply because they happen to be Muslim and they are not being portrayed according to the "proper" stereotypes.

If there was a reality show that followed around a Jewish family and a Muslim group boycotted it for that reason I would also suspect this group bigotry. If it was a show about a Christian family and a Muslim group did this I would suspect that Muslim group of bigotry as well. Or a group of White people who boycotted it because the family it was filming was black.

Yes, that's true, but they may have jumped from the frying pan into the fire with this.
