Season is almost over. Anyone been watching? Thoughts?

Very brutal show, but very well done. I'm so glad it was brought back for a second season.
I got the episodes recorded on my DVR. I have only watched through episode 3 but it's an excellent series. I'm a fan of George R. R. Martin's writing so that's why I started watching.

The end of the last episode was definitely one of those "WTH" moments you do not see coming. I love the show, very good acting and a well written story. I just wish they cut out the medieval softcore inappropriate content it has in it at random times.
Haha, yah, it can be a big much at times. Very awkward at times if you're watching with the wrong people.

Word is they have been discussing the filming of the second season which takes place in a city where it's the fashion to have one breast hang out and whether or not they should include it.

Tomorrow is the season finale... Kinda sad but wondering where they will take it.

The tasteless vulgarity, the overt scumbagness of every character, and the bland cinematography just make this show nearly unwatchable.

For macho and manly brutality, I would rather watch Rome or even Spartacus. For court intrigue and softcore medieval inappropriate content I would rather watch the Tudors, that show did much more tastefully and sexy IMO.

That's one of the good things about the series/books - no-one is safe, and quite some more characters will get the axe. I'm not going to spoil it though ;)

How about the end of the season finale? I think it was done well, albeit the version in the books is slightly different. It gives me chills every time i read it.

I just wish they cut out the medieval softcore inappropriate content it has in it at random times.
The books are way more explicit, but a number of scenes have been added - mostly as an opportunity to explain certain story elements such as during the scene between Doreah and Viserys (in the bathtub), or Theon with Ros.
Having an important character talk a bit about who he is to a secondary character is a good way to include such information that was only present in the books e.g. as internal monologue. And then one of course needs a reason why that important character would talk about all these things to another unimportant one. Trying to hook up or show off gives taht reason.

I'm not saying that it couldn't have been done another way, but i think it was done in a way that appeared plausible, without affecting the rest of the story.

By the way:
Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn in Tudors) has been cast as Margaery Tyrell for the second season.

"The tasteless vulgarity...."

I had a problem with this as well. We all realize the reality of vulgarity in any world setting, but the show simply went to far with it, espceially when combined with the pointless soft-core scenes.
I agree. I think the story would have been just as good, if not better if it was toned down.

I disagree, while some of the scenes were indeed very vulgar, it kept with the whole reality situation, though I do think some of the scenes could have indeed been shorter. Half the scenes were to make you as disgusted with the characters as possible, and it worked.

I didn't need to see "the Dragon" naked in a bath tub to realize what a putz he was.
*shrugs* It's an adult show that stuck very closely to the books.

In that case, you started seeing several sides of him at once. The acting from pretty much every actor in the series is spot on and they did such an amazing job.

I think the show is pretty close to the books and in order to be close to what the books are, the show would have to be really brutal. In the end, I'm glad it's filling the role of a true adult fantasy show, not a toned back, family friendly, watered down version of the original content. I get tired and bored of people sacraficing the impact of source material that is already very graphic in order to make it more mainstream, because that's what toning it all down does... It lessens the impact of the story.

Wished "Walking Dead" was able to do the same thing, but in the end, they just couldn't because it's on AMC. But I get it, the choice was larger audience and bigger budget, or smaller audience and smaller budget with a shorter TV life when it goes on one of the exclusive channels. They didn't want to end up like "The Tudors," an expensive show that most didn't see until it got onto Netflix streaming that had to end, in spite of how well done it was and how popular it was on DVD, because the original broadcasts were not a draw.

I was such a huge fan ,but i stopped when i started learning about Gods To-Do list and his rules about such activities, all the immoral things that show has, such witch craft and share Gore and Morbid sex scene with women and fell spirits,i'm glad i'm not watching that mess anymore. And young adults should stay away from such things ,it stains the mind.So those of you still watching please stay away from HBO feature series and also Spatacus.
