Have you been healed physically before by Jesus?

I have to say, I'm the doubting Thomas in this area of physical healing. I believe He can, but why is it so hard to find examples today? I'll break this up in a couple ways:

I. I believe Jesus can heal
II. I believe Jesus wants to heal spiritually most importantly
III. Why don't we hear of healing outside of medicine and doctors?

I. I believe Jesus can heal
He did with whoever came to him with sicknesses. I don't think he denied anyone. There were a few questions, like "Do you want to be healed?" or "All things are possible for those who believe." to the man who cried, "I believe, but help my unbelief!"

In James 5:14 it says "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

Now I don't know what is out there I guess. Where I live, there are no churches that gather the elders together for sick people and anoint them with oil. So the churches around here don't even try it. That reinforces my doubt to believe it or not.

I've heard the explanation that healing was only performed for the Jews' sake that for a sign they might believe. If a Jew was watching, a healing is more likely to happen. I really don't know, although in my heart of hearts I believe Jesus would heal me. I want to believe. And I do sort of. But I'm fighting a lot of issues to get there, evidently.

II. I believe Jesus wants to heal spiritually most importantly.
That's probably true, especially in the case of the ten lepers. Jesus really desired a personal saving relationship with those lepers. But only a few returned and gave thanks.

III. Why don't we hear of healings outside of medicine and doctors?
Maybe I'm in the wrong area. But none of the churches do it, or if they do they're a little too eccentric in other areas for me.

I have a physiological brain chemistry disorder of bipolar unspecified. I have been taking meds for 20 years. The meds cause diabetes. Had that for 4 years. Diabetes causes all kinds of problems. I want to be healed. I am disabled and you can't just ween off the meds. Either your symptoms will return or you will have withdrawal symptoms. I'm afraid, I feel forsaken, not understood, and most of all anxious for relief.

Only encouragers, please! Let me know what the scoop is on healing sick people in the 21st century. Why isn't it practiced anymore, or at least encouraged?

I thought he promised not to interfere in humanity anymore? Besides, once you start getting the idea he directly heals someone, you start wondering why one believer died of a disease and another pulled through when both prayed;
-did one not pray hard enough?
-did one not believe enough
-did they die as punishment?
-If people die from illness wether they believe he'll heal them or not, why bother praying for it in the first place if he's just got a plan anyway?

That is why faith healing was stopped being used. This picking and choosing who's healed and who dies when people believe he would heal them makes it appear cruel to some and makes it impossible to recognize what criteria he would accept that would make him decide to help you survive. Not everyone who practiced faith healing had a 100% success rate, and if you believe in divine healing, that's what is sort of expected to happen.

He lets things play out as they happen without any divine help or punishment. Thinking he'll heal someone if they believe hard enough and negative things are a punishment from him was a belief we left behind in the middle ages when we couldn't explain how diseas and illnesses worked.

I was diagnosed with cancer and was a week away from death until the doctors started treatment, and had I gone without, no amount of prayer would have saved me. Knowing he takes a hands-off approach and lets humanity have freedom to do what it wants makes it easier to accept horrible things happen to people, because it'd be harder for my faith if he divinely helped others, but didn't do anything for others who suffer. Like that girl in Austria that was held in the basement by her father, raped for 24 years and had 3 kids because of it, I'd be very angry her cries for help were ignored if he helped someone who wanted to get through an illness or surgery with divine intervention. Not being able to help anyone makes bad things easier to accept.

I don't know how/if ibethel.org, ibethel.tv verifies some of this stuff, but they apparently have healing frequently.

Anyone heard of Dream Center in LA? I heard about healings there. Drunken in the Holy Spirit, just supernatural experiences in general.

I'm going to be straightup, I had an std, herpes, that was always there for like 8 months straight, found God and it hasn't shown back up. (Haven't gone back in for tests) I believe God does heal and answer prayer. How often? Do people make it up? I know in my experience something has happened.

Even in the time of Jesus, not EVERYONE was healed either. He healed jews, and select gentiles that had extraordinary faith.

I'm still learning here, but Jesus was annointed with the holy spirit, and performed miracles, under jesus, the disciples could too kind of like they were under his umbrella. When jesus died, the disciples had to be re experience everything themselves.

I want to believe Jesus wants to heal me. That's all I know.
I know the angry, hopeless feeling when you've got a health problem, believe me. If it's a life consuming worry, you might want to consider therapy so you can learn to deal with it so it won't affect your life.

It might be better if you don't get healed. remember, this life is a temporary thing, you suffer only until it's time to go to heaven at which point you become flawless and your suffering ends.

now, I personally have heard of miracles being committed even today, it's just that it was done in secret.

I did hear this one time on the news of a man miraculasly healed of his blindness. it was on the news and everything and people still didn't believe.

If my family thought that way, I'd have never sought therapy and let myself die when I was depressed between treatments and I wouldn't be here. This isn't the middle ages where the only thing to look forward to is death. If life is nothing but suffering then there's no point to living and suicide seems like a better choice. I can't accept telling someone "well it's probably better if you don't recover".

I have to say that G-d has intervened in my life many times, He has saved me from death more than a few times. He has brought forth incredible help in times of need, other times He appears silent.

Has He ever healed me as in "in an instant" I am made whole? Not yet.

Would I desire that, I absolutely do. Have I prayed, fasted and been prayed for...absolutely. Have I repented of every sin I can think of, I believe I have. Have I asked for forgiveness, many times. Have I forgiven those who have wronged me, yes.

So, then I wonder what is the issues, why am I still afflicted? I know that you want to be healed, I totally get that. So do I.

I was born to a mother who took DES to stop a miscarriage, I was born without a roof to my mouth.
I had undiagnosed ADD.
I was in a motorcycle accident and had severe head trauma and brain injury.
I had the polio virus at 36 years old.
Bilateral Mastectomies at 42.
There's more....

But, the biggest one is the 15-17 migraines each month, resultant of that motorcycle accident. Multiple Occipital Lobe injections, Cervical Facet injections, 4 Neuro surgeries...all to stop the Migraine Monster...all of them failed. Every medication to abort migraine and prevent migraine...been there and done that.

So, I spend half the month in a bed of suffering, what's left I am trying to recover from the sensation that my skull has been ripped apart and one of my eyes pulled out at the same time. Can't take any noise or light and must stay in a dark cold room alone. Yep, try spending half a month like that, every month, year after year...

I will say this, I KNOW that G-d knows where I am and what is happening to me. He knows I am head over heels in love with Him, He is my HOPE that one day these chains will be broken off me. He is how I survived my parents death, my husbands death and my sisters death in less than a 5 year period. Half my support system...wiped right out.

My advice is this, we don't get to choose whether we are healed or not, so somehow you have to say okay G-d, "Your will and not my own". Watch the movie "The Passion"...I did and you know what, my suffering doesn't even make a bleep on the radar, and I am certain I deserve worse that I am experiencing.

G-d will heal if that is what He wants to do and I have seen others healed. So yes, it does still happened but in His infinite wisdom, He allows others to suffer for a purpose we do not yet know.

You've really put some things in perspective for me. Thank you. Your sufferings are so much greater than mine. There's a song I sing and play called "Thy Burdens are Greater Than Mine". I couldn't imagine. And you're right, Jesus must have endured the greatest pains - physical ones that tore at his skin and hands and feet and head, back, and losing the ability to breath - that breath of life he gave each of us..emotional ones that his support system ran away, the ones he told what would happen, the people who made fun of him, spit on our Creator (that was me, I'm including myself in this crowd), and spiritually when God His Father had to pour out the cup of wrath full strength onto his only Son, because he was chosen from the foundation of the world to be slain for our sins.

Thank you. You have helped me see something I haven't seen before.. not the sufferings of Christ - I've gazed on them before.. but the fact that his sufferings was his cross to bear. Everyone has a cross of suffering to bear; suffering is followed by glory in eternity.

If he chooses to heal me that is good. What is better is that I could get to know my God and His Son better by sharing the sufferings with him. To me, if that was a promise to me, to get to know Christ better, and like Paul said, 'to know his sufferings so as I may know his resurrection', then it's all worth it, right Godsproperty? This is what fellowship can be. God bless you.

Hi, sharing a devotional page with you :amen::

Redeemed From Every Type Of Sickness
Galatians 3:13
13Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
The One who cleansed lepers, opened blind eyes and made the lame to walk took your sins, sicknesses and every curse when He hung on Calvary’s tree. The curses that were meant for you because of your sins fell on Him instead. He was cursed in your place to redeem you from every curse that comes as a result of breaking God’s laws.
What are these curses? They are listed in Deuteronomy 28. It is a long and detailed list. Don’t get frightened when you read the curses, but rejoice because Christ has redeemed you from every single one of them, including those curses of sicknesses!
Are you stricken with tuberculosis, fever or inflammation? (Deuteronomy 28:22) Christ has redeemed you from every one of these conditions!
Do you have painful boils, tumors or an itch which doctors say cannot be healed? (Deuteronomy 28:27) Christ has redeemed you from every one of these conditions!
Perhaps yours is a serious and prolonged sickness. (Deuteronomy 28:59) It doesn’t matter. Christ has redeemed you from every prolonged sickness!
“Well, Pastor, you have covered tuberculosis, fever, itch… but what about my disease? It is not covered in Deuteronomy 28. Did Jesus forget my disease?”
No, His work is perfect! Look at Deuteronomy 28:61: “Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed.” That covers everything. So if Christ has redeemed you from this curse, then He has redeemed you from every type of sickness! I don’t care what new type of sickness the world discovers because Christ has redeemed us from every type of sickness!
Now, if you have a particular sickness, say, “This (name the sickness) is part of the curse of the law. But Galatians 3:13 says that Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. Therefore, I have been redeemed from (name the sickness)!” Believe and confess that every day, and as surely as Jesus took every curse of sickness, your healing will break forth!

Healing is practised in lots of churches, in fact I just came back from a meeting where a few were healed.

III. Why don't we hear of healings outside of medicine and doctors?
Maybe I'm in the wrong area. But none of the churches do it, or if they do they're a little too eccentric in other areas for me.
Maybe this is why you do not see it, your worried about the other stuff they do so you stay away from the churches that practice healing .

Now I don't know what is out there I guess. Where I live, there are no churches that gather the elders together for sick people and anoint them with oil. So the churches around here don't even try it. That reinforces my doubt to believe it or not.
Any christian can pray for the sick, you do not need the elders.
Jesus told us to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead , cleanse lepers, and preach the gospel.

He wouldn't interfere to stop bad things from happening because of the free will of humanity.
But you said:
I thought he promised not to interfere in humanity anymore?
I asked you, where do you find that in Scripture? I'll ask for the same in your posted that I've quoted that was your response to me. Can you show me where He made this promise?

It's what was taught in school. Though if God still steps in despite the free will we're given, I have to question the judgement of when or not to step in.

It's what was taught in school. Though if God still steps in despite the free will we're given, I have to question the judgement of when or not to step in.
But you see, if God's Word doesn't teach it, then it's just someone's opinion. In this case the teachings of the school you went to.

I'm not trying to be difficult here, and the reason I only originally quoted the one comment is because the basis of your commentary after that was based on that statement. Where you ended saying you'd be very angry with God if the Austrian girl's plea's for help went unanswered. And that despite your own bout with Cancer no amount of prayer would have saved you. So you give credit to the doctors for healing you instead of God? God uses doctors to heal, but ultimately it's in His hands.

I'm a walking testimony to that, just as you are. My appendix ruptured inside me and was inside me for as much as 5 days. I had been taught all my life that this was a death sentence. Yet none of the poison went into my bloodstream, in fact it went back upstream in my intestines to my stomach. The hospital pumped 4000 cc's of this poison out of my stomach over the next four days. I knew going into the surgery that it had already ruptured, I knew that no matter how good or bad the doctor may be, that would be removing it. It was in His Hands, He decides, not a doctor and not me.

What you are failing to see in your case is that He intervened at the last minute. As for the Austrian girl, it is proof we live in a fallen world. It's sad and tragic, but it's still proof. I don't like the idea of it happening anymore than you do or He does. But these things are going to happen in a fallen world. That's why we have the Great Commission to spread the Good News about Him.

Job's wife said, "Why don't you curse God and die!" Job wouldn't do it. Would you do it because God didn't intervene/interfere in a situation you felt He should? I know I wouldn't.

Here in this very thread we see how God does incredible, wonderful things for people each and every day and how people miss His deeds completely.

Christownsme and Godsproperty777, thank you and God bless you both.
I've known about Christownsme's affliction for a while and have kept him in prayer. I will add you, Godsproperty777, to my prayers and I thank you both so much for sharing with each other and showing care for one another because in doing so you have helped me more than I have words to say and God has used you both mightily. I think it's important that you know the incredible thing God has done through you. I pray that others have seen and been healed by your words. Praise You God! Praise You God for your enduring wisdom and love!
