I love love love the Beatles, and have no problem with them or their amazing music. Some people genuinely feel that it would be wrong for them to listen to the Beatles, and if they feel that way, then they shouldn't. From your post it seems you already know the standard reasons given for not listening to them, and since it seems to not be a problem for you then I'd think it would be alright.

Oh, and welcome to CF! :)

Also, Lennon's quote was taken completely out of context. In its original framing, it was a simple commentary on how crazy people had gotten over them, and seemed more like noting that the public's priorities were more than a little messed up. If I remember correctly, the interview where he said it was met without controversy...it was like a year and a half later that someone from a U.S. radio station played the sound byte without any lead-up and that's what made people go on a record-burning spree.

I mean, heck, Christians that believe in all the 'culture war' stuff have said worse things than that quote by John Lennon.

We were doing our family's devotional. My 5-year-old daughter LOVES the movie "Yellow Submarine". We were talking about the basics of right and wrong, and being mean to others. My 5-year-old piped up, "Like the Blue Meanies were mean to everyone, but the Beatles saved the day!"

Our 7-year-old daughter responded, "Yes, the Beatles led the Blue Meanies to God."

I'm not going to argue that. :D

Three things:

1. Not sure where you heard that Ringo is a Christian, but it isn't true.

2. Lennon's quote was taken out of context. Even though Lennon was very hostile to religion, in this case, he was innocent. All he meant was that he didn't understand why kids adored them the way they did, but ignored more important things, in this case, Christ's teachings. Now, granted, he was looking at Christ from a Humanist perspective, that Christ was just a good moral teacher but in spite of that, he still made a good point.

3. It's OK to listen to the Beatles, but if you just like that kind of music, there are far better bands out there.

OK. I googled the words "Ringo Starr Christian" and couldn't find any evidence that he is a Christian.

somebody asked him if the song "Walk With Me" is refering o Jesus.

I hate to break this to you, but singing a song about Jesus doesn't make you a Christian. Lost people sing songs about Jesus all the time.

Willie Nelson has five Gospel albums.

Read the article. Didn't see anything to indicate that he's a Christian. Nothing about acknowledging his sin, repentence, the cross, forgiveness, nothing. Just some vague comments about "finding God". For goodness sake, if he were really a Christian, don't you think he would have at least mentioned Christ at some point?

It was nothing more than you'd hear in an average Joel Osteen sermon.

The link didn't work, but if it's anything like the first one, don't waste your time fixing it.

Why bother answering, if you're just going to copy and paste your previous post to someone else?

Besides, there was a lot of OTHER things in the other article that made me go "hmmmm"...like about John Lennon.
