Based upon it's mentioning in Scripture -

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent:
<-----> Acts 17:29+30

winked -

hoop-er-i'-do
From G5228 and G1492; to overlook, that is, not punish: - wink at.

Gee, I've been out of the loop. After a search, I saw there were whole ministries based around the term.

It makes me nervous that groups of people are declaring what God's favor is, but I'm sure they're just doing their best to bring a fresh outlook on the gospel of God's grace. (Not winking at sin, but winking at children He loves.)

thanks for the answers but, still confuses me.

I just want to show you what the person on facebook put about God's Wink and see if it goes together w/ what you all described.

This is what he said, "How 'bout a big, fat, unexpected blessing at just the right time?!! Got a God wink! All I can do is shake my head and be thankful..." - "sometimes I just shake my head because I know when it's nothing but the Lord. He is so amazing :)"

"Yip, just be thankful - that is what brings joy to you and God."

I guess I'm confused bc as far as I know, I haven't experienced what this friend has described on facebook. Can anyone give perhaps a simple example from your own experiences of a "God Wink"??

I don't call this a wink, but through a normal day I will see small and large ways that God leads me. More often that miraculous windfalls, He prepares me for things that are coming up, by giving a little information.

Sometimes we think we're not hearing and seeing God. But if we stop taking credit for everything that flies through our minds, it is easier to see that we know things we have no reason to know... it is God who has planted the ideas and information.

Blessings... sometimes it is running into a person at perfect timing, finding something we thought we wouldn't be able to find, getting relief for a debt or large expense.

But I don't see God in the business of keeping us perky and rich. There are so many more important things in life, more interesting things than just having Stuff.

Mother Teresa said,
"Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat. "

Slightly off topic, meant to be funny...

I've heard this expression a few times, yet, i'm quite confused by it. Before I give an explanation of what someone said on facebook about a God wink, I want to hear what some of you have to say about it please?

Looks like there's a marketing campaign attached to the term (?)

Say...Can I get a Cali Roll Wid-it and go light on the HolyBling Sauce to go with my decaf Mocha YaYa like OMIGOSHsize me 2 kthx oh and do you deliver?

(Of course that's just my first impression after googling the term)

Somebody wrote a book(s) which included the term in the title , and this helped to popularize the term , and it's consequent meaning is - a sign or signal from God . Which may appear as an answer to prayer , or a desire , often taking the form of an extraordinary coincidence .

Most of us have had these type of experiences .

One time after a hard day's work , I was enjoying a tasty cold beverage , a friend gave me , and it was the last one , and about half full ; when clumsily , I knocked it off the ledge of his back porch wall - as it fell I reached out to try and grab it , with great desire that it not be lost , and the end of one of my fingers barely tipped it altering the angle of it's falling , whereupon it then fell about 8 feet to the mown grassy ground , landing straight up , and a tiny splash came up from inside and seemed to fall mostly right back into the bottle , so that practically none of the contents were lost . And being in a state of amazement , I remember thinking God had smiled on my situation , and this was a sign of His Mercy & Graciousness . This I suppose would be an small example of what is now referred to as a God wink .
