Anyone here over 35 and never been in love or never married?

I am just feeling like the "odd one out" on this one. I am in my mid-thirties and I have never been in love before or never married. I have dated but that was 10 years ago. If you have never been in love before or never married please explain why, if you would like, I mean was this something that you chose or was it something that you wanted but it seems that God had something else instore for you?

I can honestly say I have never loved anyone enough to want to marry them.

I believe that I was called to be single. I have dated and understand enough about it to make an informed decision to remain single. I chose to stay pure and not give myself to anyone until we were married. I do not regret this. It is something deeply ingrained in me.

Being single is not easy. You have to be comfortable with yourself, like yourself because you will spend a lot of time with yourself. I have friends who are supportive and who I can go to seek advice. Sometimes it is lonely, but you can be lonely in a marriage or in a crowd.

Wow this is such encouraging words my dear sweet loving sister. Beleive it or not your message has helped me to understand my best friend a bit more. She too has dated but she has made a point for many years now (she is 35) that she will not marry, that she enjoys her single life. She never complains about wanting to be with a guy and all. She has her things that she loves doing and she tells me that is what makes her happy. I hope and PRAY that if it be the will of Our loving HEAVENLY father for me to be single that I have a heart like you and my best friend about this issue. For years I thought that it was my vocation to be celibate but I realized that I had been wrong all along. I had misunderstood the reasons for why somebody takes the path of celibacy so for most of my life I had no experiences with the opposite sex unless it was completely platonic.

I did have an intense crush on my last bf, but I don't know at what point that becomes "in love." We were having problems from the get-go due to our values being mismatched.

There's no one I dated whom I wanted to marry. Sometimes I think God is saving me for the right man. Other times I think that God at least has been allowing me to grow closer to Him, without the distractions of a man in my life.

But I would like to meet a decent man who is a match for me and understands what it means to be committed and unselfish.

I know how that feels. I feel lonely a lot of the times as well. the only man who can fill that I know is Jesus. Yes I know that it is not the same as having a living breathing one here with me, but I would rather have no one then to have the wrong one. So I wait.

I have never been married myself and I'm 53. I came close a couple of times but it didn't happen. I know how you feel. I think that 35 seems young to me.

I pray a lot for a mate but it does not seem to happen. I have done all kinds of activities but they have not worked.

I am OK with being single most times. On the weekends, it really gets hard. What's even harder for me than being alone is the unsolicited advice I get from people. They make suggestions about things that I have already tried.
