Well, it seems to me that since homosexuality is no worse than any other sin, if they accept Jesus' forgiveness and have that relationship with Him, they should be accepted into heaven, don't you think?

I'm just asking this since I have some Christian friends who think all homosexuals will go to hell, but they're Catholic, and I have my views on Catholics :p.

Exactly, but I guess they view homosexuality as so much worse than any other sin. I'm not saying that is a Catholic view, that is just what some of my friends probably think.

It seems to me we all sin, and do it constantly.

I agree, people for some odd reason place certain sins above others as if they were worse. The other day I was chatting with a friend while lighting up a cigarette and asked her what the difference was between smoking this cigarette and eating a double thick strawberry cheesecake with extra cream and a hot chocolate drink. We are commanded to look after our bodies so smoking is bad, but is the eat and drink I just mentioned not equally unhealthy for your body? Sooo, the one can't be worse than the other, they are both equally bad! Regarding people who struggle with homosexuality, like every other sin - repent and turn away from it. Go and sin no more. God can and will wipe away all your sins and can set one completely free from it, I am a living example and testimony of that. That doesn't mean temptation won't come, it will and does! So, it is no more yucky than your straight friends having a heavy snogging sesssion with a girl and reaching some base... Sin is sin. People should get over the categorising of sin. Pastor TD Jakes once said that ALL sin can be found in only these three categories: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. Those were the three bullets with which Satan shot Adam and Eve in the Garden with.

Homosexuals can be saved just like everyone else but they cannot hang on to their sin after accepting Christ.
To become a disciple of Christ we are to repent(turn away from)deny ourselves and follow him. We die to our old selves and become a new person.

Can homosexuals get into heaven? This question must be examined before it can be answered. What exactly is a "homosexual." Is it a person who engages in homosexual acts, or is it a person who is a homosexual, because they are genetically different from folks who are sexually attracted to the opposite sex. The Bible seems to quite clearly address folks who engage in a pattern of homosexual acts, saying they are practicing sin.

Now can folks who "practice" sin as opposed to stumble and sin while doing their best to not sin, get into heaven. Would God accept that they believe from the heart that Jesus is Lord and are committed to try to be Christ-like? I doubt it. So is engaging in homosexual activity like jumping off a bridge, you make the choice to do it, but once you do, there is no turning back, because the addiction is overpowering? I do not think the Bible answers that question either. One thing is for sure, I gave my life to Christ when I was 15, and I still have sinful habits to this day. But I know they are sinful and I do not try to tell others it is ok to sin.

All sin is equally deserving of divine punishment, but not all sins are equal in their immediate consequences. I can steal a cookie from Grandma's cookie jar and, even if I'm caught, not suffer any truly serious repercussions. This is not the case if I murder someone, however. I can be a miserable gossip and never suffer as I would if I got caught robbing the local bank.

While homosexuality is not worse in the sense that it is no more worthy of God's judgment than any other sin is, it does involve an unnatural twisting or perversion of God's intended design and in this respect is more abhorrent to many people.

As several have already noted, homosexuality is not beyond God's capacity to forgive or to change. He can free from the power of homosexual sin those who want to be free.

One other thing: There is no concrete evidence that homosexuality is genetic. There may be biological factors which contribute to homosexual tendencies, but no one is forced by their genes to be homosexual.

Peace.

We all sin but not all are in the bondage of sin. Christians who have the holy spirit working in their lifes-arn't in bondage to sin and so they don't practice it. But christians arn't sinless until they get to heaven.

Romans 7:

1Do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to men who know the law—that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives? 2For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. 3So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.

4So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God. 5For when we were controlled by the sinful nature,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death. 6But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. Struggling With Sin

7What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."[b] 8But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead. 9Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.

11For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 12So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. 13Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

I'm asking this question in the exploring Christianity section for a reason, I'm asking for knowledge on the Christian view of things. I didn't make this thread to debate weather or not Christianity is true or not, that would be for another forum. I appreciate any opinion, but please try to give opinions that actually contribute to the discussion at hand. And read the rules by the way.

Thanks for the opinions from everyone else so far.

As a homosexual, i am hoping so.
Though I have been told many times that it's impossible.

Told by whom? I think the whole discussion of this thread has revolved around where everyone sins, no sin is any worse than any other, and as long as you pray for forgiveness of sin, you'll be accepted. Some also say that you should also try to turn away from your sins, though another and personally I agree that it's kinda hard to try and turn away from every sin you regularly commit, like it's kinda hard to not think to yourself that a very good looking person walking by looks very "nice."

Do you think murder is worse than stealing a cookie from the cookie jar? Is raping someone worse than cursing when you slam a hammer on your thumb?

The Bible tells us that there should be a progression in the Christian's life toward greater and greater holiness. If I'm saved at twenty and struggle with the same sins when I'm fifty, there is something seriously wrong with my relationship with God. We are saved from the power of sin, the Bible says, and no longer ought to live as though we had no power to resist our sinful habits or defy temptation.

Romans 6:6-7
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.

Romans 6:11-14
11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Romans 8:3-4
3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Romans 8:12-13
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live
.

It is a modern belief that it is okay or normal for a Christian to be constantly failing and confessing, failing and confessing, failing and confessing. This is the way a spiritual babe carries on, not a mature follower of Christ. Just as a baby stumbles and falls while it is learning to stand and walk, but eventually is able not only to walk but run, so, too, the Christian "new-born" is in a continuum of growth that may begin with stumbling and falling but progresses away from this state to one of mature stability and strength.

Peace.

Peace.
