Been to Europe. It was nice. What's wrong with copying what other countries do right?

The ad is downright scary, not the least because of the total lack of acting talent. Or are dead-pan expressions and monotone voices 'in' this year?

And did anyone else find it humorous that they referred to a 'rainbow coalition'? And since when do schools teach anything about marriage, gay or otherwise? I don't recall ever hearing anything about marital states during my twelve years of government-approved public education. Lies, half-truths, and fear mongering... and yet some people actually believe that.

Our education system must be a success. I thought it was overly liberal and full of the same lies, half-truths and fear mongerings but I assume to entirely different things.

Europe is nice, by the way. I have not been there. I am interested, though.

If you think about it, on some levels the psyche of the average American is being tinkered with. We are losing a good sense of what our society is, what binds us together, when the basis of our society is vanishing.

We are slowly becoming more like Europe, I guess.

It is more than a little annoying to see the traditional foundation of cultures brought under, and it will certainly weaken the society.

Meanwhile, other nations such as Korea, India and China are having a resurgence in nationalism.

We shouldn't tinker with a system that works so much. We put ourselves in jeopardy.

How does gay rights harm American society. Considering that American society is simply a slightly more old style imitation of Europe, becoming more like Europe is a return to normality. Again gay rights won't harm American culture it will simply remove biggotry.

would you rather America mimiced India, China and Korea and their resurgence in nationalism?

There was a news story here in MA (that I'm probably not recalling correctly) about a children's book that was either read or banned from being read to K children about a prince and a prince or some such thing. I remember hearing about it on talk radio so obviously the source is questionable.

Here it is http://www.massresistance.org/docs/issues/king_and_king/book.html

I suppose those kind of books introduce the concept of same sex relationships in a very down to earth, humanized level so they can understand. Which they will discover for themselves anyway.

And what upsets these parents is not that the children are being told about the existance of such relationships, but that they are being presented as real caracters that children can sympathise with. Where as they would like to teach their children about gay people in a demonized way

Indeed. I'm not sure what the outcome was but MA is a pretty liberal state so I suspect that if there's going to be any topic of weddings/marriage in school, it's going to end up being all inclusive or not mentioned at all.

My neighbors got married last year. This infringed upon my rights to live next to an unmarried couple. They continually walk around with wedding rings, flaunting their marriage to the entire world. I am sick of my rights being trampled upon by their ability to be married without asking me for permission.

I don't understand what NOM plans to accomplish with attacking gay marriage from an angle of "rights"...

GLBT are not violating anyone else's rights in any way just by getting married.
So the natural compromise is to let them get married as long as they don't infringe on anyone else's rights... which is pretty much exactly what they want.

It is simply fear tactics -- the idea is that if same-sex marriage is allowed then next gays will force their church to marry them, lock them up for saying same sex acts are a sin, etc. Unfortunately I know too many Christians who, largely because of their false ideas of the "homosexual lifestyle" and "homosexual agenda", are easy prey for these types of ads.

Actually, they do teach a little. When little Johny is getting picked on because of his two mommies, the teacher will sometimes explain that this is not reason to pick on Johny, that he has a family just like the rest do.

Of course:preach:, this is a horrible thing for the teach to do because...

um...

well...

eh...

sorry, drawing a blank here.

I think I just got a new sig (on a different forum), if you don't mind.

I was going to point that out! They've basically just lost the internet campaign before they ever started with that acronym.

Of course he would, he's one of those 'rar rar nationalism' folks.

So ending segregation and allowing women to vote weakened America?

Who wants to be like India or China? And why should we want to be more nationalistic?

Why is nobody scared when the teacher says it's ok to be Muslim?
Doesn't someone going to mosque when you go to church hurt religion, and a violation of your religious rights, because it is breaking the 1st Commandment? The bible says....
I mean, they will raise their children Muslim!

Or can such people understand that if you don't believe in Islam, then don't pray to Allah, but leave your neighbor alone to enjoy the same freedom you extend yourself?

And if so, is it such a leap to see everyone as a citizen?

When I see things like this, I want to spit in disgust for what tries to pass as Christianity, kind of a "Jesus love me, and that's what's it's really all about. Me. Me me me me me..."

It's like being 5, and Mrs. Eisenhower reading, "And then Little Red Ridinghood said, "Gee, Gramma, what big ears you have..." Even at 5, I was like, "what? Was she stupid? If you put a ballcap on my dog, do you think it's me?"

They better hope God isn't coming soon, because if so, they should be scared.
