People dislike homosexuality because it is disgusting to most people. It takes a very normal and natural desire and warps it into something odd.

It's simply disgusting.

Of course, I do not have to do it, but it is still something that I certainly do not respect.

More on that, there are a lot of super femmed out homosexuals or super masculine lesbians and basically... It is bending our genders. It makes me feel like "wow, you are an annoying twit!" "You're a waste of flesh and bone, you are a waste of life's blood; you will never know any form of love that is not warped nor will you ever even contribute to society through reproduction."

OK, kind of extreme, but there you have it.

I do not even think the Bible has to come into this.

Homosexuality is just repugnant.

Since I'm kinda lazy right now I'm gonna copy/paste a reaction I made in another homosexual thread. They all result in the same discussions anyway. :)

---------

When I see two homosexuals making out on a bench in the park I often think: "Blegh, that’s gross!"

If two homosexuals are kissing eachother while we're standing in line together it probably would make me uncomfortable.

My initial reaction to homosexuality is: "It's unnatural!"
(Initial meaning I haven't given it more than 1 second thought)

However those feelings are just that... my feelings. Not supported by facts, not logical. It's just my preference regarding a specific subject. I don't like strawberries either.

I would gladly sign every pro-homosexual equal right laws/petitions.

It's ridiculous that simpleminded people still act on these basic emotions (that I have too) to limit the rights of other people.

Blacks........................
Women............................

<staff edit>

People reading about this in future history books will be amazed that their ancestors were able to set foot on the moon yet be so incompetent at the same time.

I dunno. Maybe it's just an ick factor for a lot of people.

Although I once had an interesting conversation with a hypermasculine straight guy who was extremely hostile to gay men in particular. I wondered aloud if he thought that it could have something to do with a latent fear of rape on his part, if perhaps he expected gay men to be as predatory towards him as he was towards women. His answer was to get real, real quiet and think about it...

But really, I don't know what it is. Sunspots, maybe.

True that.

Others probably just have never interacted with a real, live gay or lesbian person and come to understand they're just another human being instead of some scary monster out to tear down everyone's precious belief systems.

I bet there's a lot of possible reasons.

Yeah, I figure they have met a few times with open gays and have only walked away with the general disgust of meeting an overly effiminate man or overly masculine female...

These are the same guys that want to bash up on metalheads, etc. in high school.

That is an extreme opinion.

So long as it's all consensual then I have no problem with it. It's not like it's a choice, it's a product of both genetics and environment. In many ways, it's just as natural as a heterosexual relationship in that respect.

Yeah, kind of; it is a mutation of the hypothalemus some folks believe and perhaps there are other environmental issues.

I have no problem with it... I just certainly do not enjoy being around it nor do I consider it a really awesome lifestyle by any stretch.

That is an extreme opinion. Just because someone is genetically inclined to want to do something does not make whatever they want to do moral or ethical. Some say rapists, murderers, and alcoholics have genetic predispositions to do their thing. Genetically influenced urges may be natural but they are not necessarily healthy or morally acceptable.

I just want to hear peoples reasons behind their disapproval of gay people.
I dissaprove of SIN, whether it is homosexual sex, or aldultery, or fornication, stealing, bearing false witness... etc. etc.

Sin is sin. They are all equally bad.

I think the reason it may appear as if there is more of a backlash regarding homosexual activity in particular is because it is being shoved down middle America's throats by activist courts and the media. Similar backlashes have occured when overly-sexual or violent content has also been shoved in our faces too, on TV, in the movies, etc.

It is important to remember that a Christian who properly understands this has nothing against homosexuals themselves. I believe we are all sinners, and we all have a weakness to a particular sin. If I were to hate a homosexual then I would have to hate myself too, for I have tendencies towards my own particular sins.

So I do not disapprove of gay "people". What I disapprove of is THE ACT of homosexual sex, because this IS an abomination, as are all other mortal sins (from a Christian POV).

How do you know this?

Observation.

There are some homosexuals who obviously do not do this.

I think it is odd, though, that in the endeavors for some of them to execute their homosexuality they still have to fulfill generally masculine and generally feminine roles at times, which almost seems to perpetuate strange sexual roles...

Bleh.

Nooj, you can provide statistics to contradict me if you want.

I will just do what liberals do when confronted with facts: claim inherent bias.

Nor does it automatically make it immoral or unethical.

Some say rapists, murderers, and alcoholics have genetic predispositions to do their thing.
And some say religious believers have a genetic predisposition toward the sense of security religion offers.

Genetically influenced urges may be natural but they are not necessarily healthy or morally acceptable.
Nor are they necessarily unhealthy or morally unacceptable.

Does it bother you that people are not Christians, do not attend church (In your case, specifically the Catholic church), do not believe in Jesus or that he did anything special? If so, would you support laws making these things mandatory?
