I have been praying for almost 2 years for God to bless me with a job that I can find fulfillment in. Right now I work as a substitute teacher to make a little income but my family and I need more. Yes, I could work a minimum wage job somewhere and I am not above taking a minimum wage job. However, I am an educated person and believe I can find better. I know the economy is bad right now but I know God can provide a financial blessing or job opportunity my way. I will admit I have to work a job that is a good fit for me and will provide job satisfaction. If I work a job that is too stressful or brings no fulfillment I will be completely unhappy and will not be a good employee. It seems that my husband and I cannot catch a break when it comes a job opportunity. I've been praying and trying to leave it in God's hand but I feel like my prayer continues to fall on deaf ears. I know that money is not everything and I do not live a frivolous life. I am also a person with a giving spirit. Does anyone out there have any insight to why my husband and I are not being financially blessed or why the correct job opportunity is not coming our way?

Although you have been waiting for two years already, you may have to wait longer. Just continue to pray and keep hope. Also, keep looking for permanent teaching positions and don't give up. If you are truly committed to the education track (which it seems you are), than you will eventually find a permanent position.

On a side note, have you considered relocating to find a position? You may also be certified in a subject that isn't in high demand at the moment. There are many factors at play. However, I firmly believe that you will find a position eventually, as you do seem committed.

1 Timothy 6:

7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Have you prepared yourself by reading the NEW TESTIMENT as many times as it takes so that the next time you read it you will already know what it's going to say? For then it's locked in your heart and you can draw from this the rest of your life.

Have you devoted your WHOLE life to GOD and do you seek HIS WILL in your every decision?

Have you been ANOINTED ( BORN AGAIN-SAVED )?

LOOK TO THE BENIFITS OF THIS:

" 1 John
Chapter 2

26
I write you these things about those who would deceive you.
27
As for you, the anointing that you received from him remains in you, so that you do not need anyone to teach you. But his anointing teaches you about everything and is true and not false; just as it taught you, remain in him. "

For you will then have GOD'S:
1. GUIDE
2. TEACHER
3. COMUNICATOR
4. COMFORTER

You see if you are ANOINTED by GOD you would have all you need to have a direct line to GOD and no human stands in the way.

This is the most important thing that you will ever do in your life. If you have the supplies above in GOD'S WORD then you have all you need to concentrate on the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE.

I SURE HOPE YOU HAVEN'T BEEN JUST WASTING YOUR TIME ON VANITY!!!

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

JESUS IS RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE AT!!! EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T SEE HIM!!!

Hi Lilly. I'm sorry to hear of your financial troubles, and I hope that all turns out well for you. But have you asked yourself this: does God really want to bless me financially? The truth is, He may not want to right now, or ever in this life. I know that's a hard thing to hear, and God is often very frustrating to us in the way that He answers prayer.

But at the same time, God does care for you, and He promises to take care of you. When I begin to worry about my life, I find it very helpful to turn to Matthew 6:25-34.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

A couple things that I see in this passage that don't always immediately catch the eye: Jesus tells us that God, our father, knows what our needs are. He is not ignorant of our needs, but He gives to us according to what He wants us to have. Jesus also acknowledges that our troubles are real troubles. He does not minimize our problems, but says that each day has enough trouble of its own. He experienced the troubles of life on earth, and He sympathizes with our plights.

At the same time, Jesus tells us that we are to seek the kingdom of God first, not our own kingdoms. We are called to live for what God is building, instead of trying to build up our own treasures, such as a nice house, a nice car, good education for our children, etc. All of these are good things! But we must seek first God's kingdom. All that we truly need, God will give to us.

We also must keep in mind that our life here on Earth in this age is passing away. It is but a moment in the eye of eternity. Therefore should we store up treasures for a moment, or for eternity?

Lilly, I hope that it doesn't seem like I am minimizing your troubles. Your troubles are real, and God is concerned about them and about you. I truly hope that God will bless you financially, but I don't know God's plan for you, or for me. May God bless you in all good things, according to His mercy and love.

-your brother in Christ

Sometimes we pray but forget the practical steps that are often necessary. If you look at those who have 'got ahead' you will find they took opportunities, were alert to them, had a drive to succeed, and took steps to reach their goals.

You will also find may of them are greedy, power hungry, selfish and without real values.

So, its quite a mix learning how to get on in life and still maintain Christian standards.

Malachi 3:[7] Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?[8] Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.[9] Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.[11] And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.[12] And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

The tithe is 1/10th of your gross income. The true blessings come when you give over and above the 10%. That is called the offering (sacrifice).

I was in your situation years ago. In fact worse. I was unemployed for 4 years. After tithing faithfully for 2 years and getting nowhere, I was moved to give $20 to a visiting minister. Within 3 days, I had 3 job interviews. Within 5 days, I got 2 job offers. Within 7 days, I was employed, and I've been employed ever since. This was in the year 2000.

I am very happy to tithe and give love offerings once in a while and can't wait to do so because God Blesses me. I may not have a fancy car or tons of money in the bank, but I am not in debt, have positive cash flow, and people give me free things all the time. I have never had to buy clothes for my children, because friends and relatives continually supply us without us ever asking. Sometimes things appear exactly when I need them. This is what I call prosperity, and there is more to come!

God not only gives me things, but also saves me a lot of money. This weekend, I went out looking for a new toilet, because I'm renovating my bathroom. I scored a $650+ brand new toilet for only $300, because it was used as a display, and the store owner wanted to keep his stock circulating. He told me it was the best model he had in the store. My total budget was $300. Another way to look at it is that God gave me $350 out of the blue. Things like this happen all the time for me because I obey the Lord with regards to tithing. My wife understands this as well and tithes faithfully without me having to remind her. I have more today in terms of cash, possession and answered prayers than I ever had when I didn't tithe accurately. Even my annointings and gifts of the Spirit are greater because I tithe.

God wants to bless his children, but he can't a lot of times because it would be contradictory to His Word with respect to the Book of Malachi.

Don't let anyone ever tell you that tithing was only for Old Testament days. Even Paul spoke about tithing. Tithing started with Abraham, the Father of Faith. We live according to the Law of Faith. Therefore, we need to tithe.

Dear Lilly

Please DO NOT be mislead. You can't buy GOD. What do you have that HE doesn't have? The ONLY answer could be your heart.

There's a lot of sharks out there in the name of preachers and priest. They want their pockets filled no matter what your condition is. GOD'S WORD addresses this issue and speaks of the punishment these sharks will receive.

Look at what you have to gain by just devoting your WHOLE life to GOD:

" 1 John
Chapter 2

26
I write you these things about those who would deceive you.
27

Once you are ANOINTED by GOD you SHALL have a:

1.TEACHER
2.COMUNICATOR
3.GUIDE
4.COMFORTER

This is really what your looking for.

When you are ANOINTED by GOD you will receive the MISSION GOD has for just you. For the GOD will supply all your needs EVEN what you have not the ability to have.

THIS I KNOW FOR A FACT!!!

Stay away from VANITY.

Maybe all of this is about growing past your "comfort boundaries" and maybe you are to push yourself into what it is to be a good servant, in the Lords service and/or in the service of others.. Because we are told if we are responsible with very little then we will be responsible with much, so we will be given more.. If we are unfaithful with what we have been given then what we do have will be taken away, and given to someone else..

I know your "Education" entitles you to more, or at least that what we have all been told since we were very small, but if the majority of the people who you are competing with in the job market, are all similarly educated then you have to work harder or have something to set yourself apart from the rest of the herd.. Is all very basic economics. (Supply and demand)

This either means taking a less suitable job, and working your way up or you can take a job that doesn't give you the satisfaction you want, but doing a good days work for a good days pay anyway, learn to be an asset even if you "feel" like this whole experience is a hindrance.. Then take your glowing recommendation, and stellar work history with you into your next interview.
In taking one or even both of these options it will help prepare you for service to the Lord as well.. Because not all of his jobs are glorifying positions, nor do they have to be self satisfying either, but they are still there and need to be filled..

Your other option is to wait this whole thing out and see who breaks first, you or God.

The districts usually pay tutors fairly well. Also, look into the school's administrative positions that require certification -- it would help you keep yourself visible there.

You mentioned family -- I will assume that means at least one young child. This may sound silly, but have you calculated the costs of day care? The U.S. national average cost for full-time day care is $611 a month per child, after taxes (unless you have a pre-tax flex account through your employer). This nearly doubles in large cities.

When my kids were young, I figured out that I'd have had to leave work one day out of each ten due to sickness of one or the other (or me), if I'd been in a more structured position. Then there are all the holidays once they're in school... with an average of 180 school days out of 365. Days that end at 2 PM. Half days during testing.

If someone (like a spouse) is pressuring you almost as much as you are hard on yourself, then find some Web data like this and sit down together with the realities in front of you.

Then there are occasional gifts for the sitters, transportation expenses, gifts for people at work, respectable clothing, lunches to pack for the kids... on and on.

It might be a blessing that you have a flexible schedule right now (if you do have kids), so that you can turn work down when you need to.

The other thing I want to mention, is that fulfillment might sound great, but when it comes down to paying the bills, work keeps the roof over the heads. You might be surprised what you enjoy once you get there. I really can't think of a job I didn't like, no matter how menial. There's always something interesting to learn and try.

Sounds to me like God is trying to teach you some humility.

If your family needs more money and your current job doesn't provide it, then get a weekend or evening job on the side. Work in a factor, food service or retail you have to. It's clear that you're letting your education lead you to think you're t"too good" to do a "lesser" job.

What are your worldly career goals? Where do you WANT to be? What are you actually doing to work towards that goal? Are you like the man praying to win the lottery, but never bothering to buy a ticket?

Lily, I was in the same boat as you just 2 weeks ago. Here's my story. I had no job for 1 1/2 years. My girlfriend left me. I was at rock bottom. God came to me one day and I became a born a christian, yet I still had no job. I got 2 job interviews that I thought i was certain to get because I prayed for it, but guess what, I didn't get it. But I kept my faith. I then started a business that I prayed for and at first it went good. I asked God if this is what he wanted me to do, and in a dream he said "Yes."... The business failed shortly afterward. But I kept my faith. I was begging God for signs on what I should try next because I was lost. I thought he was going to bless me with either of jobs or the business that I prayed for, but he didn't. But i kept my faith.

Just 2 weeks ago, I started a business and I am making more than I can ever had imagined. Even my family can agree that this is a miracle.

So i just want to let you know to keep your faith. Remember God will test your faith. Keep the faith and you'll reap God's rewards! :)

I sincerely hope this has helped you. I am still rejoicing for what God has done for me and I hope the same for you.

When I go into a job I need to do, but I am not necessarily a "good fit" for, I ask God to help me bless the people I am working with. I concentrate on making their lives easier if I can. Also if this involves doing something I hate, like mounds filing, I try do it with humility. I joke to myself about it, calling it "filling for Jesus". :) It does not make me happy per-say, but at the end of the day you have a paycheck and a strengthened ability to serve.

It's the old adage, bloom where you are planted. If you show enthusiasm and initiative where you are, then people will promote you. If you hold the attitude that you are striving against what you have, then you might get in that habit, no matter where you work.

Take a look at the mothers in your church or community who have chosen to set aside their career goals to raise their kids -- many of them end up in gift shops and other minimum wage jobs, twenty years after they proved themselves with a great degree. They are feeling the same thing you are.

It is easy to get frustrated when comparing yourself to the handful of school friends who found better job opportunities. Some of them had to fight to get these opportunities, and some didn't. But there will always be people who deserved much more and didn't get it. Once you are out of school, there are fewer rewards for doing well, getting answers right. You have to be more proactive in showing the world that you're worth more.

One thing you could do -- write down what you could see yourself doing "above" the full time teaching position. Do you ever think you'd be a principal, enrichment specialist, professor of education, instructional designer, evaluator of education students, or involved in educational standards and testing?

If so, start shooting in that direction. Use this flexible time to get a PhD in Ed Admin or curriculum design (some programs pay students).

IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU...IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM.
Try THANKING HIM for what you already have.
Also, if He hasn't answered your prayer YET, It's obvious that HE wants to focus on something other than finances in your life.

Sometimes, fasting goes along with prayer. So if i were you, i'd be fasting and praying about WHAT GOD WANTS not what you want...you have to pray for HIS WILL, not your own

I don't know if it's so much a humility issue, as frustration with a system that promised something after a given investment. The world says that a college education will increase your income potential by x%. But that is not how most of the world operates. It is not necessarily that you are expecting too much, but that the world has not shown you the breadth of realities yet. I would guess that you would make the sacrifices if you knew exactly what it took to get to a different level.

The truth is, some people get advancement by schmoozing and lying. Buying their way in. Pushing others aside. The larger truth is, 1/5 of the world doesn't have safe drinking water, while our society talks about finding fulfillment in our jobs.

I started out with a lot of ideals of what I wanted to accomplish professionally, but found that some of them were empty -- I wanted a position but didn't understand the needs of the people that made that position necessary or useful.

After living and suffering a while -- an amount of time that I felt was far more than appropriate -- I started to find passions within myself for righting injustices and helping certain groups. And that is when I started to feel like I was gaining professionally. Finding fulfillment came from knowing suffering first, then exploring ways I could help others in despairing situations.

I would not choose suffering as the best route to fulfillment, but it certainly makes life feel richer, later on. The richness felt is in wisdom, feeling a core of stability within yourself that make circumstances almost unimportant.

God makes a distinct personal promise to you that you will be blessed abundantly when you tithe. It is the only promise in His entire word where God says to test Him in it and see Him be true!

Malachi 3:10
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

Luke 6:38
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

That was my first thought as well. I don't get why people seem to believe that an education entitles them to better jobs, better pay, and better opportunity than others.

Do the work the Lord has put in front of you and do it unto Him, with all of your passion and zeal. He may one day bless you with something "better" but He might also bless you with something worse. Either way know that it is a gift from our Father in heaven and not a right or entitlement.

I'd also like to reiterate what others have said about tithing and giving. That's where financial breakthrough comes about. When you tithe and give not as a duty, not with a heart to "buy" God, but with a heart of love and honor both towards the Lord and towards your fellow brothers and sisters. It is easier said than done.

I struggle with it and often times I won't give a tithe or offering because I know my heart isn't right. There is no breakthrough for those who give love offerings not out of love, but out of duty. At least I've never heard of one.

FYI
Tithing is part of "the law", given to JEWS. We are gentiles, and we gentiles are not under the law. Never have been, never will be, it was only given to the JEWS

We are under GRACE, and yes, "God loves a cheerful giver". Key word- cheerful. The problem is when we start seeing giving as a chore, or in some cases, a "get rich quick" scheme.

God wants us to give because we want to, not of nessessity, like the law was.

Furthermore, there are reasons in the Bible why our prayers don't get answered.
Sure, He promises to bless us, but we can't expect Him to, if we aren't doing our part.
