Is this like that "good slavery" thing you were talking about in pm to me? I believe your quote was..

Is it now your belief that what happened to the indians was "good genocide" because it was christians wiping them out?

Again why do you worship a god who planned genocide?
Why not? God did not order genocide for the USA. Sinful man did that I am afraid, but there were other men - Christian men who preached the Gospel and helped the Indians.

There are good and bad in every society, even in Christian America. The abuse of slaves is another sin that took a war to correct. Even a good institution can be perverted and destroyed... sometimes the only solution is to replace it.

None of this changes the truth of God's blessings upon and plans for the USA in world history. We are sinners who are forgiven. That makes all the difference in the world. I rejoice in God's work in the USA and our loyalty to Him throughout our history from the Jamestown settlement even to today.

That is why I am celebrating the Jamestown Proclaimation... dedicating this land to God and to preaching of the Gospel worldwide. God has honored this dedication and I celebrate it.

Rejoice in the Lord for America's Godly heritage. Pray that He will show us mercy for our sins, and continue to give us freedom to evangelize the world.

Are you suggesting that slavery is a "good institution...perverted"?
None of this changes the truth of God's blessings upon and plans for the USA in world history.
"And yea, on the continent of North America shgall be a nation of untold righteousness, that shall be a becon unto all other nations of the world:
They shall be abomination if they fail to follow the lead of the Holy United States of America in all things:
For is it not true and written that the constitution and foreign policy of America shall be the last book of the Bible, and the actions of her rulers as righteous and unquestionable as those of Moses and Abraham?"

Actually Christianity is a great blessing to Americans... Indians too. They stopped killing and torturing one another and live in peace. Most importantly they have found peace with God in Christ and enjoy a higher standard of living.

Are you just making stuff up that sounds nice?

Suicide rates in the US are the highest amongst the native americans.

So what you're saying is:
Good = goddidit
Bad = mandidit

There are good and bad in every society, even in Christian America. The abuse of slaves is another sin that took a war to correct. Even a good institution can be perverted and destroyed... sometimes the only solution is to replace it.

Natives weren't perfect before the Christians got here (no one is!) but I fail to see how they needed any more "helping" than anyone else.

Any kind of slavery is an abuse. Owning another person is wrong. I really hope you're not saying what I think you're saying here.

In other news, Native Americans hold a day of mourning.
Way to think of the dark side of things.

Are native North Americans generally known to have been heavily involved in killing and torture at the time of colonisation?

As to the idea that killing, aside from the odd murder here and there, stopped in America as it become a Christian country... there was this thing called the civil war, you may wish to look into it. Many hurt, several even killed... Christian Americans on both sides
Some Native Americans were invaders, some were peaceful.
"Civil"war was a growing nation trying to work out a
difference of oppinion, one by dividing the country the other by forcing it to stay a part of the country.

The peaceful immigration of people to America was innocent enough. The diseases they brought weren't even close to being understood then. And the diseases were not planned for. Except for the alcholism "disease"
which Europe had dealt with for centuries, the others were a by product of Europes society.
Immigrants didn't come to American to sicken those natives.
The evil was still to come. Spain came across and disease and the military destroyed most of the South and middle American natives, England and Germany hit the East coast ad disease killed there.
But the worst evil was the people that were raised in the states. Taught to look down on the natives, and that they had the right to force the Indians to leave.

Very few countries have a perfect history. MOst have comitted atrocities. Most countries learn from thier past and continue. In America, I guess we just remember the bad of our country and forget the good.

There is a book - title?? - that tells of many indian native prophecies about men from afar coming with a book to tell them about God. Christ's Holy Spirit was preparing the way for the Gospel in America.

Like other matters spiritual, God had it planned perfectly and Satan failed to prevent it or prevert it. God's love broke through.
This is one of the most ill-informed and misguided things I've read in a while. I don't even know where to start. ... Like, seriously, these kinds of statements reveal serious delusions.

Any time the oppressed Native Americans want to swap places with me so I can have access to the daily income from all their casinos, I'm ready and waiting. Bring it on. No more sweating the rent every month for this boy.

so... someone being affluent now forgives the mistreatment of forfathers?

Hmmm... be sure to tell that to the next affluent African American you see, that slavery is OK, because he's got more money than you

It may interest you to know that I personally have never mistreated any Native Americans, nor have I ever owned any slaves.

Since this is the tack we're taking, however, as a man of Irish and German descent, I'm still waiting for the money I'm owed from Great Britian, because the meddled in Ireland for 900 years; and I'm also deserve reparations from both the Mongolians and the Hungarians, because their ancestors, the Huns and Magyars, invaded Germany numerous times. Oh, and the Turks, too---the Turks owe me money because they brought the plague into Europe.

I take all forms of international currency, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and personal checks with validation.

Another misinformed statement. Native Amercians are not all rich off casinos; just another stereotype with no basis in reality.

According to the 2000 Census, there were 4.1 million American Indians, including Alaska Natives. Native Americans remain the poorest minority group in the nation. The poverty rate among Indian people is 25.9%, compared to the national rate of 11.3%. Associated with this poverty are poor health conditions, lack of affordable and decent housing, substandard education, a critical lack of jobs, and a host of other barriers that keep most Native American communities isolated and economically distressed. The Indian unemployment rate was 46% in mid-2004. While a handful of tribes have achieved a measure of success, the vast majority are in serious need of jobs, economic growth strategies, and policy solutions that can counteract the results of decades of oppression.

I find news about God's involvement in America's history -- and destiny -- so inspirational!

Then this web page should make you positively giddy!

http://www.mises.org/web/2679

Here's an excerpt:

One Puritan moral imperative was strict observance of the Sabbath: any worldly pleasures indulged in on the Sabbath were a grave offense against both church and state. The General Court was shocked to learn, in the late 1650s, that some people, residents as well as strangers, persisted in "uncivilly walking in the streets and fields" on Sunday, and even travelling from town to town and drinking at inns. And so the General Court duly passed a law prohibiting the crimes of "playing, uncivil walking, drinking and travelling from town to town" on Sunday. If these criminals could not pay the fine imposed, they were to be whipped by the constable at a maximum rate of five lashes per ten-shilling fine.

To enforce the regulations and prevent the crimes, the gates of the towns were closed on Sunday and no one permitted to leave. And if two or more people met accidentally on the street on a Sunday, they were quickly dispersed by the police. Nor was the Sabbath in any sense a hasty period. Under the inspiration of the Rev. John Cotton, the New England Sabbath began rigorously at sunset Saturday evening and continued through Sunday night, thus ensuring that no part of the weekend could be spent in enjoyment. Indeed, enjoyment at any time, while not legally prohibited, was definitely frowned upon, levity being condemned as "inconsistent with the gravity to be always preserved by a serious Christian."

Kissing one’s wife in public on a Sunday was also outlawed. A sea captain, returning home on a Sunday morning from a three-year voyage, was indiscreet enough to kiss his wife on the doorstep. For this he was forced to sit in the stocks for two hours for this "lewd and unseemly behavior on the Sabbath Day."

That kind of stuff doesn't really "inspire" me, but I guess I'm just backslidden.

If you can accurately, geneologically trace your family back in such a way that you can link your family to any specific injustice, AND you can identify a grioup of people who are benefiting from that misjustice today, I would totaly support what you are saying.

Native Americans can do this. African Americans cand do this. Australian Aboriginals can do this. European Jews can do this.

I'm Irish/English heritage myself, but I HAVN'T been abot to perform such an act of geneological research, and I suspect, nor have you.

So what you are ACTUALLY doing, is whining for fear that someone somewhere may be awarding something you aren't entitled to. Its called sour grapes, and its really unattractive. For a change, rather than worrying about other people getting a benefit you aren't entitled to, try to be HAPPY for an oppressed group getting SOME form of compensation... just try it, your blood pressure will go down and you'll live longer.

Um....actually, the Irish were treated abyssmally in America for a time.

And as far as people "benefitting from misjustice", many blacks and Indians today are doing quite well. Should every person of "color" get a check from the government (re: taxpayers) for simply being of an ethnic group that had been discriminated against in the past? Just for their color??

If you want to make race relations even worse, then pass a reparations bill. At the very least the white poor will resent it.

Um....actually, the Irish were treated abyssmally in America for a time.
So? Have you a specific incident in mind where you can identify your ancestors suffering at the hands of someone specific, who is still benefitting from the injustice today?

If so, I say sue and good luck to you!
And as far as people "benefitting from misjustice", many blacks and Indians today are doing quite well.
So? Just because they jave done well for themselves, does that lessen the injustices done to their ancestors? But more importantly, what about all the Blacks and Indians who AREN'T doing well... the majority of those ethnic groups, you will find.
Should every person of "color" get a check from the government (re: taxpayers) for simply being of an ethnic group that had been discriminated against in the past? Just for their color??
Has anyone advocated any such ridiculous notion? I doubt it... and it CERTAINLY isn't the case today.
If you want to make race relations even worse, then pass a reparations bill. At the very least the white poor will resent it.
Are these the same white poor against whom so many people want all welfare and assistance programs cut off to? You think the answer is to keep ALL the poor EQUALLY poor?

But hey, anything to ensure no one gets a slightly larger scoop of gruel than you, right?
