Camera in shampoo bottle leads to charges

Man accused of filming two female roommates as they showered

MANCHESTER, Conn. - A man landed in hot water after police say he hid a tiny camera in a shampoo bottle to watch two of his female roommates as they took showers. A male roommate, curious why the shampoo wasn't moved for some time, found wires protruding from the back of the bottle, then called police, authorities said.

GUATEMALA CITY - Emergency crews on Saturday found a third body in a 330-foot-deep sinkhole that had swallowed a dozen homes and forced the evacuation of nearly 1,000 people in a crowded Guatemala City neighborhood. The body of Domingo Soyos, 53, was carried out of the enormous fissure and identified by family members, medical crews said.
Soyos was the father of teenagers Irma and David Soyos, whose bodies were found floating in a river of sewage soon after the sinkhole opened on Friday.

Residents said there were other people unaccounted for, but emergency crews could not confirm that......

Authorities Seize 26 Animals From A Couple Hoarding Them In California Motel Room

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Mar. 21, 2007
(AP) Santa Cruz County authorities have confiscated more than two dozen animals from a couple who were hoarding them in their motel room they shared with two children. Staff of the downtown Santa Cruz motel went to the man and woman's room on Tuesday because they had not heard from the couple in more than a month. Inside they found 20 domestic birds, a cat and a rabbit. There was one dead bird in a cage and three others stuffed in the freezer.

"In this particular case, they also collected junk in addition to animals," said Todd Stosuy, animal control manager for the Santa Cruz County Animal Services Authority.

The couple, who shared the room with their two children, could face misdemeanor animal neglect charges, but they were not cited or arrested.

26 pets found in filthy Santa Cruz motel rooms

By Jennifer Squires
Sentinel staff writer SANTA CRUZ — A Santa Cruz couple could face misdemeanor animal neglect charges for keeping 26 pets — alive and dead — in the two Ocean Street motel rooms they shared with their three children.
On Tuesday, Animal Services officers found exotic birds, a rabbit, a malnourished cat and four dead birds amid the animal feces, rotting food and trash that littered the second-story rooms at Motel Santa Cruz. The jam-packed rooms were also home to a couple and their three children.
"Everyone living in that environment was suffering, just through the stagnate air and the junk," Animal Services supervisor Todd Stosuy said. "The stench was overwhelming"
Staff at the motel tipped off county Animal Services officers Tuesday after discovering the filthy menagerie when they went to check on the family. The parents and their children had lived at the motel for more than two years, but motel staff hadn't heard from them in about a month and got worried.

59 stray animals found in vacant home
Updated: 4/30/2004 5:16 PM
By: Antonio Castelan

Austin police and other city agencies have removed 57 stray cats and two dogs from a Central Austin home. Earlier this week, officers were called out to the home on Woodview Avenue after neighbors complained about the stench.
They found the house vacant, covered in animal feces, with a strong odor coming through the windows.
The animals were taken to Town Lake Animal Center.
"A lot of these cats have obvious signs of illness. They are showing signs of illness. A lot of them are unfriendly," Dorinda Pulliam of Town Lake Animal Center said.....

If they don't want the animals and treat
Them like dirt, then give them up for adoption
I always say.

There was a similar case in he UK but with +200 animals. It seems some people cant help taking animals in and it seems to become a pathological obsession with collecting them. Very sad...

The following is something that came with the picture above... I was trying to find more about Cyborgs....

I cannot even imagine.......Mickey

"Undoubedly the most important cyborg technology on the market today is the knowledge database chip, implanted into the brain stem with a simple routine surgery. Now that your peers and competitors can access a customizable database of knowledge the size of a presidential library simply by thought association, how can you keep up without the same luxury? Don't be outsmarted by others who jumped at this amazing deal
first. Buy now and enhance your life."

The future may include the reality of science fiction's "cyborgs," persons who have developed some intimate and occasionally necessary relationship with a machine. It is likely that computer chips implanted in our brains and acting as sensors or actuators may soon not only assist the blind and those with failing memory, but even bestow fluency in a new language, enable "recognition" of previously unmet individuals and provide instantaneous access to encyclopedic databases..........

Fantastic voyage: From science fiction to reality

Some 40 years after the release of the classic science fiction movie Fantastic Voyage, researchers in the NanoRobotics Laboratory of École Polytechnique de Montréal’s Department of Computer Engineering and Institute of Biomedical Engineering have achieved a major technological breakthrough in the field of medical robotics. They have succeeded for the first time in guiding, in vivo and via computer control, a microdevice inside an artery, at a speed of 10 centimetres a second.........

Iraqi police say children were decoy in car bombing

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1173879141180

Police said Wednesday that children were used in a weekend car bombing in which the driver gained permission to park in a busy shopping area after he pointed out that he was leaving his children in the back seat.
The account appeared to confirm one given Tuesday by a US general. He said children were used in a Sunday bombing in northern Baghdad and labeled it a brutal new tactic put to use by insurgents to battle a five-week-old security crackdown in the capital.
Maj. Gen. Michael Barbero, deputy director for regional operations on the Joint Staff, said the vehicle used in the attack was waved through a U.S. military checkpoint because two children were visible in the back seat.

'This Is Indeed A Miracle'

Updated: 10:51, Wednesday March 21, 2007

Thousands of people are flocking to see portraits of Jesus Christ which are said to have been bleeding for the past two weeks.
Eric Nathaniel, a police radio operator, found red fluid trickling down a picture in his house which he believed was blood.
He said: "We lit candles and prayed all night and a little later the blood dried but it soon started trickling down from the hands and heart of another portrait in the house.".............

Officials said red paint used in the portraits could be melting in the extreme humidity.
But islanders and priests continue to come in boats from remote parts of the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago to pray.......

Right, Left Makes A Difference In Tail Wag

03:42 AM, March 25th 2007
by News Staff

Italian researchers say that dogs' tail wagging sends a different message depending on the direction of the wag.
By examining dogs' interactions with people and other animals, the scientists found that a dog wags its tail to the right when it spots someone or something familiar and to the left when it feels threatened, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Muslim Pupils Beat Their Christian Teacher to Death Over Koran

Posted GMT 3-22-2007 14:41:20

Muslim pupils at a secondary school in northeastern Nigeria beat a teacher to death today after accusing her of desecrating the Koran.
Oluwatoyin Olusase, a Christian, was adjudicating an Islamic Religious Knowledge exam at the school in Gombe state when the incident occurred.
The students attacked her outside the school compound after the exam and killed her, witnesses said.
It was not clear exactly what Olusase had done that angered the students.
Police confirmed the killing and said their intervention had prevented the incident from turning into a riot.
"We have received information that a female teacher has been lynched by her students. We are investigating the report," Gombe state police commissioner Joseph Ibi said.

Unchurched Population
Nears 100 Million in the U.S.

http://www.barna.org/FlexPage.aspx?Page=BarnaUpdateNarrowPreview&BarnaUpdateID=267

March 19, 2007 (Ventura, CA) - Life in America has changed greatly since 1994, with massive changes in technology, global politics, lifestyle choices and family dynamics. But one constant has been the proportion of adults in the population who are unchurched. During that period there have been noteworthy shifts in religious behavior, but the percentage of adults who have steered clear of churches for at least the past six months has remained stable since 1994.
A new survey released by The Barna Group, which has been tracking America’s religious behavior and beliefs since 1984, reveals that one out of every three adults (33%) is classified as unchurched - meaning they have not attended a religious service of any type during the past six months. While that figure is considerably higher than the one out of five who qualified as unchurched in the early Nineties, it is statistically unchanged since 36% were recorded as having avoided religious services in the company’s 1994 study...
