Have YOU ever heard of this?
Well, I guess there might be some who consider cleaning house as an "anointing of sorts" :p

Seriously though, what are the circumstances to what you have heard of such a thing as "anointing" with amonia?

As a matter of fact, I have anointed a house I worked in as i was cleaning - I took a little of the (oily!) polish and prayed over doors and windows as I worked!

I have used oil too, at home and elsewhere, but never ammonia. Bleaurgh!

I think someone's having a laugh with you 327. Don't do it!

Maybe someone had tried it and suddenly felt better. Ammonia is released in smelling salts, so if it was an experiential tried-and-true, this would explain a bit:

"Smelling salts are used to arouse consciousness because the release of ammonia [NH3] gas that accompanies their use irritates the mucous membranes of the nose and lungs, and thereby triggers an inhalation reflex (that is, it causes the muscles that control breathing to work faster). One such smelling salt is ammonium carbonate (NH4)2CO3."

I remember being offered a test tube of ammonia in science class, and we were warned seriously to take care of this stuff - pure ammonia is really vile, not just an unpleasant smell, it does damage. Even a little sniff actually hurts!

I think we maybe dipped a paper spill into it or something to limit the amount, and were just to waft it past our faces rather then breathe it in.
I expect they banned it from schools today!

I've no doubt my husband would think this is a good idea...."Yes, dear...PLEASE do. Get out the ammonia and anoint the toilets, the sinks, the kitchen floor. Rub it in really well with a scrub brush too!"

I've never ever heard of this.

No a person I knew did this and I asked why. He said because the Lord told Him too. The thing is he did this but the spirits in his house got worst. So I would assume he realize it didn't work but he doesn't. I told him to get some oil but he went quiet on me lol

I thought this was very strange, very very strange. God even gave Him directions. He told him to get a white cloth, wet it with ammonia, and wipe the doors down.
