Tithing was apractice in ancient Israel under the old covenant in order to maintain the OT priesthood... there is no need for it at all under the new covenant since the new covenant priesthood does not even minsiter until the new earth except to the saints who are looked after by guardian angels, not by filthy lucre...
Jesus tithed...and He said this about giving...in the NT.
Mat 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your
alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 6:2 Therefore when thou doest [thine]
alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:3 But when thou doest
alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Mat 6:4 That thine
alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
Luk 11:41 But rather give
alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Mat 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Mat 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
