The Playing Rules & Character Database:

Player Rules

1) You should only post in-character (IC) in one of the RPG Forum Universe - you should only post out-of-character (OOC) in the OOC Discussion Forum. However, if you do post OOC in a Forum Universe, make it clear that it is OOC and not IC. Try to restrict OOC posts in a Forum Universe to a minimum.

2) It is recommended that you have only 1 character per thread so to allow better character development, but the number of characters is not restricted.

3) Each character you create must be entered into our "Character Database" forum. Each new character must be put in a NEW THREAD, with the THREAD TITLE being the name of the character. The thread must consist of name, age, race, image (optional) and other bio/ stats/ information/ background you want to include. You can then link to this thread from storylines that you want this character involved in. Do not post replies in a thread - just edit the post to update any info.

4) Players can join any story in a thread by posting a reply in the thread IC.

5) The first post by a character in a thread may include a bio of the character, so other players know who you are.

6) In general, players cannot kill other characters. If they wish to kill another player's character, they must ask the permission of the GameMaster of the thread AND the player of the character. If they wish to kill non-player characters (NPCs), they must ask the permission of the GameMaster of the thread.

7) Players cannot have powers or possessions that are beyond the physical limits of the universe they are in. Players cannot control NPCs. If they wish to do so, they must ask the permission of the GameMaster of the thread.

8) Players must not spam a thread by posting multiple replies in sequence - please edit your post and add to it instead of making a new reply.

GameMaster Rules

1) The GameMaster of a Story is the thread starter of the thread.

2) The GameMaster in the first post of a thread must post as many details as possible about the setting of the story - eg. time, place, politics, weather, non-player characters (NPCs). The title of the thread is the title of the story.

3) Storylines must be consistent within the universe that the forum is set in.

4) The GameMaster may play 1 character in the thread, and control all the NPCs in that thread as well.

5) The GameMaster must actively be responsible for controlling the environment and atmosphere of the Storyline thread, by posting at appropriate times telling players what is happening around them in the story.

6) The GameMaster must CLOSE the thread if he or she feels that he or she can no longer be responsible for the thread. The GameMaster can only close a thread after making a last announcement post to conclude the storyline.

7) GameMasters may add to the above rules, but cannot remove them or modify them - they can only built upon them and add more rules to the thread. This is to ensure consistency.

8) Moderators have powers to intervene in any thread if they feel that this is required, according to their own discretion. They will close threads that GameMasters have abandoned.
