I mean in another thread I heard that homosexual sex is condemned because it is outside of marriage, and homosexuals cannot marry, so I wondered how this would fall in place?

Genuinely curious to what people think?

Suppose that homosexuality is a sin. What are the implications?

In lieu of a common definition, take 'a sin' to mean 'immoral'. That just shifts the issue, I suppose... but you get my drift.

If homosexuality were shown to be sinful/immoral/evil/etc, however you want to define it, what would that mean for society? Would we have to illegalise it? Would we allow it to continue regardless?

I'm tempted to say "Imagine if it was as immoral as paedophilia".

Genocide is an unfair word, since it has a racist/prejudice connotation. Let me ask you, did the U.S. commit genocide when scores of Japanese were killed in WWII? In the very technical definition of the word, yes. But was it for the reason that the word implies, like the Nazi's did with the Jews? No.

The Bible says that the nations God ordered to be wiped out weren't killed merely because of how they were born or what they believe. Leviticus 18 says they were killed because they were doing things like commiting adultery, incest, beastiality, and sacrificing thier children.

God never ordered the destruction of nations for the racist or bigoted reasons that the word "genocide" implies. In fact, God would spare any one from those nations that turned from doing such destable acts; Rahab is one good example. If God was trully genocidal, He wouldn't spare anyone of whatever nation He wanted wiped out, for any reason. God punishes for wickedness, not because of how one was born or believes.

Peace.

I just recently found out I am gay. This is very distressing, to top it off I was also a e-furry. I enjoy looking at anthromorphic comics of various nature. More so lately I have been looking at gay furry comics. I am gay however I will not act on this due to my beliefs. If it ever became possible to cure this gene, would you accept said serum? Are they currently working on doing this because I would very much like to live a normal sin free life. So to summarize, if you were gay would you accept this revolutionary serum? Please go into detail as to why or why not.

Old school of thought was that unity was more important. ie You come to America from wherever you want to but you better learn to speak like us and try to fit in. These days the opposite often seems to be true and I don't know if we're better off as a society for it. What do you think?

So, I am in the middle of a hypothetical debate, and the other person claims that Research XYZ shows that all male homosexuals want to rape men. He even gives me a full citation. Of course, I know this claim is bunk, but I want to see the source anyways. So I go searching, and find out the source is not from NARTH, but some respectable journal. OK, then the other person likely didn't read some part correctly, so let me go read it. So I go to get the article and... nothing. It says I have to pay $30 dollars to download the article. So there is no way I can refute his claim. If I say he is lying, all he has to do is ask me if I read the article, and I have to say no. Reading the abstract isn't enough either.

So what can I do? Nothing.

So, is it ethical to use articles for papers or debates where the readers/other person will have to pay to get access to your source? For all intensive purposes, such an article does not exist to me. The source seems invalid unless you can provide a full text.

Or is the whole 'paying for knowledge' part of capitalism?

What if the good doctor commits murder and does his time, and the state does not find out about it until he does his time and is practicing medicine as a convicted felon? Should licensed professionals be subject to losing their licenses for other issues than their work performance?
