What are the simulatities and differences between the book of Psalms and the book of Proverbs. Maybe in your answer if you can make a heading in bold with either "they are simular" or "they are differant" so that I know which you are talking about thank you. :)

I'm here to help encourage and build up the family of God in the hope and in God's promises as written in His word.

We're all on the same level because God adopted us all as brothers and sisters, so we need each other.
If one person is hurting, we're all hurting.

I am not a scholar by any means, so any ideas that I express are my own and must be subjected to the word of God.

For all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Let us continue to build up each other's faith and grow together in love.

I watched the most powerful testimony I've heard in some time the other night on the Catholic channel ... it was two Muslim brothers giving their testimony of converting to Christianity. It was so full of love and awe for the Lord that it was just sweet. I wanted to share something from the testimony because it settled way down in my spirit and really blessed me. I watched it when I was really trying to understand something. I believe it was the answer to my question.

When Jesus died on the cross He said it is finished ... John 19:30 ... then He went and sat at the right hand of God ... John 20:17;14:28;16:16,17 ...

not because He was tired ... or because He was there to visit or any other reason than it was finished ... think about that ... there is NOTHING left that needs done ... nothing seperates us from Him ... not sin ... not sin of our fathers ... not spirits ... not anything ... it is finished

God bless

Matthew 27:45-46 says, "Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. 46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"

I find encouragement and comfort in this Scripture. Some may think this strange; “How can someone find encouragement from such an agonizing verse such as this?.” Maybe i am off base in my Interpretation..I will refrain from giving my specific thoughts for the time being.

I want to know what you think. Think about what was happening at the time our Lord cried this out.
Please respond.

the blessing of friends ...

I saw a book sitting on my bench this morning. I set it there the other day when I was somewaht upset and forgot about it. It's called Simple Abundance (A Daybook of Comfort and Joy) by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I opened it to see what it said for today and it was about the blessing of friends. This last week has been such an eye opener of just how many friends I have here. Here's a bit of what she wrote:

"Angels aren't our only constant reminders of Divinity's devotion to our emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. So are our friends. Angels bestow grace and perform miracles; so do our friends. God speaks to us through all these intimate chats, conversations, and confessions. Probably because if we'll listen to anyone, it's a pal who loves us unconditionally and is committed to our happiness.
Our friends are the jewels in our crown of contentment. We need to treat them as prediously as we truly hold them in our hearts. There are many ways to do this. Rituals of friendship are especially meaningful."

This just so touched my heart ... I thought it would be a great idea for a thread ... what a friend is and share some of our experiences along the way. I'll start

a friend is someone who will overlook your faults and see the good.

Psalm 118:24-26 KJV "This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD."

The Workers in the Vineyard

Matthew 20:1-16 GN "The Kingdom of heaven is like this. Once there was a man who went out early in the morning to hire some men to work in his vineyard. He agree to pay them the regular wage, a sliver coin a day, and sent them to work in his vineyard. He went out again to the marketplace at nine o'clock and saw some men standing there doing nothing, so he told the, 'You also go and work in the vineyard, and I will pay you a fair wage.' So they went. Then at twelve o'clock and again at three o'clock he did the same thing. It was nearly five o'clock when he went to the marketplace and saw some other men still standing there. Why are you wasting the whole day here doing nothing?' he asked them. No one hired us,' they answered. 'Well, then, you go and work in the vineyard,' he told them. When evening came, the owner told his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with those who were hired last and ending with those who were hired first.' The men who had begun to work at five o'clock were paid a silver coin each. So when the men who were the first to be hired came to be paid, they thought they would get more; but they too were given a sliver coin each. They took their money and started grumbling against the employer. These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said 'while we put up with a whole day's work in the hot sun--yet you paid them the same as you paid us!' Listen, friend,' the owner answered one of them, 'I have not cheated you. After all, you agreed to do a day's work for one silver coin. Now take your pay and go home. I want to give this man who was hired last as much as I have given you. Don't I have the right to do as I wish with my own money? Or are you jealous because I am generous?' And Jesus concluded, 'So those who are last will be first, and those who are first will be last."

Judging Others

Matthew 7:1-5 GN "Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others. Why, then, do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the log in your own eye? How dare you say to your brother, 'Please, let me take that speck out of your eye,' when you have a log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. "

God bless you...

Self Giving as a Means of Spiritual Growth

*There are two aspects of self giving: 1. To God. 2. To all humanity.*

There are two aspects of self giving: 1. To God. 2. To all humanity.

Virtually all Christians, at some time, will give themselves to God. But, what do they do afterwards? Giving oneself to God must be love-based, or it will mean nothing to God. It can be for no other reason. However, most Christians say it and then do nothing. They will say it and then wait for God to call them.

Anytime you make a commitment that is love based, it requires action. Otherwise, it is only words. If you tell God that you are giving yourself to him, and then sit and wait for him to either change you or call you, nothing is going to happen. It is wasted seed on wasted soil. If you make a verbal commitment to God it is only verbal. God needs and deserves a spiritual commitment.

How do you give yourself to God? It takes focus and total commitment on a daily, even hourly, basis. You have to make his purpose, your purpose. You have to make giving him joy and delight, your purpose in life. You do that by looking for ways to bless him every day. If you come upon a way to bless God, you don’t pass it up. So, what blesses God? Loving him, trusting him, and loving each other.

How can we love God? Praise and worship him in word and song. Every time you think about him, tell him that you love him. Share your daily life with him by talking to him often throughout each day. I don’t mean praying. God wants to be your father and best friend. You can talk to him as you would your best friend. When it isn’t convenient to talk to him verbally, you can talk to him mentally. Whenever you can, tell people about your friend and father. You don’t need to quote scripture. Just tell about his love and kindness. Tell about what he has done for you. Never neglect him. Just knowing he is there isn’t enough. Make him feel loved and welcome.

How do we trust God? First, know this: If you love God with all your heart and are really living your life for him and, living a life of kindness, God will take care of everything for you. That is, he will take care of all your problems. He will deal with anything that is causing turmoil or pain in your life, weather it be financial, health or family. So, the way you trust God is you go on with your daily lives of self giving without worrying about anything. You don’t fret, you don’t worry, you don’t have anxieties because you absolutely know that God is there in the background, dealing with all your challenges and problems, and finding solutions.

How do we love each other? Self giving to others is a required aspect of spiritual growth. This is what I have been trying to get across to people – living a life of kindness with a love-filled heart. It isn’t just something you can simply turn on. Filling your heart with love can only be accomplished thru a spiritual closeness to God. The reason filling your heart with love is so important is because once you do that, the love remains and is always there. There is no way to turn it off because it has become part of you. I use the term “heart”, which is metaphorical. Literally you are filling your soul with love, your soul being a mass of energy in the core of your body.

The question, the challenge is how to do that. How does a person actually fill his heart with love? It is something that happens naturally for some people. But, for others, it will have to be done “manually”. I couldn’t think of a better term.

Filling your heart with love is a mental/spiritual process. It may require a change in outlook, a change in how you perceive other people. It will definitely require a process of forgiving if there are people you need to forgive. All traces of anger must go. A milligram of anger will block love from entering. The person, or persons, who wronged you, were likely made the way they are thru no fault of their own.

You must realize and accept that the way people are, or what they have become may not be their fault. People, their brains, are highly programmable. And the problem is that there is no filter. The brain accepts everything. Abuse and neglect, especially during childhood will affect a person’s adult life many years later. Anger builds up. Hate builds up. Sorrow and regret build up. These memories are stored in the subconscious. They will always be there somewhere and will have an affect on a person’s behavior, on a person’s nature. IT IS NOT THAT PERSON’S FAULT. Somebody else made him or her that way.

These people with behavioral and personality disorders need love, perhaps more than a normal person. And the incredible possibility is that love can change such a person’s life, behavior and direction in a positive way.

That is part of the process of filling your heart with love – acceptance of people the way they are. Understand that it could have been you. You could have been the one who is messed up from a turmoil and abuse filled youth. Or maybe you are. If you are, then the forgiving process is a big part of your growth.

Now, in order to start the process of filling your heart with love, find a quiet place where you can be alone. Go thru the forgiving and acceptance process as described above. Think deeply and don’t try to hurry. Then open your heart and say this prayer: Sweet Lord, I am ready to be filled. My desire is to be like Jesus – filled with love. I pray and ask for your daily help in reminding me to forgive and accept. Please fill my soul with your love now. Please fill me to overflow as my desire is to share it with everybody. Let me feel your love and your joy, that it will remain in my memory forever. Thank you for helping me to walk a path of love. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Now, How do we live a life of kindness? Smiling at everybody. Being friendly and joyful. Comforting those who need comforting. Encouraging those who need encouraging. Helping those who need help, whenever we can.

The wonderful effect of a love-filled heart is that once your heart is filled, those deeds of kindness will come naturally as part of your nature. You will not need to consciously go out of your way be kind, because it has become your nature.

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore
They'd have it for their very own

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

So, the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers, we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there"

Now, the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses, draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain people
So, they won their just reward
Now, they stood beside the treasure
On the mountain dark and red
Turn the stone and looks beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away
The song has a lot of meaning. The mountain people lived on the mountain amd were very happy. They lived in love and harmony. The valley people heard they had great treasure buried. They were greedy and decided they wanted it all. They couldn't see the mountain people were trying to share their treasure. So they stormed up the mountain and killed everyone in sight. They got their reward. They went to the rock where the treasure was buried. All it said was Peace on Earth. One lone soldier surveys the damage after and can't help but think how they tried to share. There was plenty for everyone.

I guess what I want to say is this is a beautiful mountain. :) May the great Lord see fit to keep it so. It stands out to me that there was a rock involved. May we also remember Jesus is our Rock.

Hello

I believe the Lord has put it in my heart to share with you a 'writing' that He gave me on the Fruits of the Spirit. This writing and many more can be found at my blog Our Shepherds Voice. Hope you enjoy and may God bless you as you read these words:

The Fruits of the Spirit

Love seems to be the topic on everyone’s lips. There are many stories, poems, movies and songs written about love. It is what each and every heart desires. When we give love, we are sowing a seed, which germinates and eventually blossoms and returns to us fulfilled. God’s word is love. His word never returns back to us void, which means that with every promise, he will personally see to it that it reaches back to us in its conclusion. Isaiah 55:11 NKJV says “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void. But it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

Joy is not just a feeling. It is a state of mind that can be reached through serving and walking with Jesus. Joy comes to you when you know who you are in Christ. Once you know who you really are in the Kingdom of God, you simply cannot help but be joyful! Isaiah NKJV 65:14 says “Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart.”

Peace is what you get when you wholeheartedly follow Jesus trusting Him to take care of all your needs. With Jesus in charge of our daily lives, everything turns out according to His wondrous plans He has for us. Romans 5:1-2 NKJV says “Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Patience is what we must have when standing on the promises of God. His word is true and faithful, and it is only going to be a matter of time before He makes your dreams come true. Isaiah 30:18 TNIV “Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him!”

Kindness is what we must seek to bear witness to the everlasting love of God. Be kind to yourself and others, and live accordingly in the House of God. He will see your efforts to be true and as such reward you in your diligence. It is written in 2 Corinthians 6:6 “By our purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness we have shown ourselves to be God’s servants.”

Goodness is what you experience when you come to understand the very nature and heart of God. He will see to it that you are shown goodness and mercy for all the days of your life, once you find in yourself the true meaning of what it is to be of one mind with God’s will. Psalm 84:11 TNIV says “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favour and honor, no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."

Faithfulness is what you see when you entrust your very life into the hands of God almighty. He will see you through every storm and calamity so that you shall indeed come out on top! You will have success in all you do. 2 Corinthians TNIV 9:10 says “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”

Humility is what you must show one another, so that God can bestow His favour upon you. This is how He wants us to comport ourselves within the Body of Christ. 1 Peter 5:5-6 TNIV says ‘All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because “God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble and oppressed. “ Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.’

Self-control comes to those who are ‘practiced’ in God’s word. It comes with the maturity in His teachings and the knowledge that we are being taken care of until the day we die. Titus 1:7-9 says “Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless – not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who lives what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”

All glory for these words goes to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

PS Galations 5:22-23 says “But the spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control.” When we walk in the spirit, we can be fruitful for God, allowing Him to fulfil His great many purposes through us, in the mighty name of Jesus! Amen.

Good Morning All!

How are we on this brand new day? I would like to contribute my time today to discuss anything you may think would be of benefit to this forum. When two or more agree on anything it shall be done for them! (Matthew 18:19)

You might be surprised to hear me say this - I am too!...
