God also states in the Old Testament that, if found to be in an adulterous affair, both the woman and man shall be taken to the city gates and there be stoned to death.
And God is even involved in such matters as appropriate clothing: A woman "must not wear men's clothing....for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this." Also He says, "Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together."
Elsewhere the Bible states, "No illegitimate child, nor any of his descendants, may enter the assembly of the Lord, even down to the tenth generation." And, in DEUTERONOMY 23:1--2, "If a man's testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be included in the assembly of the Lord."
And what does God say about children who disobey their parents? He says, "If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother, and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death."
What happened to the Israelites who worshiped the golden calf? God commanded that 3,000 of them be slaughtered by the Levites! And in EXODUS 32:27 He commands that "you take every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and SLAY every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor."
And don't forget the Lord's command to Moses, concerning the 24,000 Israelites who worshiped Baal, as written in NUMBERS 25:4--9": "Take ALL the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord..."
Is this the same loving Father that Jesus spoke of? As a former atheist, I didn't care one way or another about God, or about heaven or hell. I though when I die, it will be it. My family is Christian. And when I read Revelation 21:8, it was a wake up call. It was the night when I became a Christian (September 4, 2009) and I thought that if I would have died a day before, I would be in hell then the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second and forever death.
