Can ANYONE tell me how to get rid of the zwinky p.o.s. that I stupidly installed?
I was an idiot an clicked on an ad link here on this site. Now, spybot is jumping up every 10-30 seconds (yes, still a half hour later) recommending that I kill processes in my registry that are caused by Zwinky.
Additionally, my firewall is repeatedly asking about outgoing information that has NOTHING to do with my browser (something that has not happened before this installation)
The toolbar is fully installed in my Firefox browser, I cannot find Zwinky in my programs list (either via control panel or the full start menu in my Windows Vista), and when I search for Zwinky (full system search), I find NOTHING.

Anyone? Any advice?

This is the LAST time I click on an advert on this site.

But if anyone has any advice, before *something* may happen to my comp, I'd appreciate it.

Right now, I have SpyBot searching my entire system, but I'm looking for advice in case that doesn't work.

Thanks in advance :)

Hey, there's a new benchmark tool out called the Heaven Benchmark made by Unigine.

Download | Unigine (3D engine for games and real-time virtual worlds)

I'd like it if you could post your specs & your results. I've seen very weird results, including:

E7400 (mildly overclocked) with two 4850s in crossfire scoring ~34 fps, and another friend's i7 965 with two 4870-X2s in crossfire struggling for 19 fps, both around the same settings. The 965 is running at stock speeds iirc.

Anyway, I'm just wondering whether the program is faulty or if the 965 owner was just bad at maintaining his system or what (as far as I know, he isn't, at least he doesn't seem to be the type and won't admit to it)... because it should have blown the other out of the water. Thanks in advance. :)

So a few days ago, the computer my sisters use got hit with some sort of virus or otherwise nasty malware, and I was put in charge of fixing it. I got the comp usable again by dual-booting it with Ubuntu so they could still get online, and installed Avast under Wine so I could scan the Windows partition without any interference. I had a feeling a lot of problems were in their Temp caches, so I just cleared those out-of-hand (and that cut down on some of the warnings Avast gave me before I decided to do so). Doing so also freed up about 4 gigs of space on that partition.

Well, the bigger problem is that it detected that pagefile.sys was infected. I know what the file does (the virtual memory store/swapspace; I also know it being infected means that Windows would re-infect itself every time it restarts), but seeing the options I have in front of me here, I want to know - before I try it - if Windows automatically regenerates a clean pagefile.sys on boot if it doesn't find it, or if it not finding it will make the system unusable from the get-go and require being scrapped and restored from scratch.
