For the fathers here, do you realise just how important your relationship with your daughters is? Do you realise that how you treat them and interact with them will determine how they will act with a man someday?

I really wanted to ask this based on my own relationship with my father. I wanted to know if other fathers know how much of an impact you have on your daughters and how much you shape their lives, actions and opinions of men.

I know this may sound absurd coming from a 21 year old, but please let your daughters know just how much you love and cherish them because I would have loved to have experienced that from mine.

He did excellent. He was so well behaved and happy. He weighs 11 lbs 11 oz now,and is 24 inches long. The Dr. put him on his belly to see if he would lift up his head, well, not only did he do that, but he got on his hands and knees and scooted away.

He even did great w/his shots and was asleep before we made it to the parking lot with him.

He has been such a delight lately, he sleeps through the night now, usually from 11pm to 7am. He is always happy and cooing now, and keeps himself occupied most of the time.

He is also able to hold his head up on his own, steady. He insists you hold him up in your lap, he hates to be held like a baby. I am so proud and in love w/my little guy.

Here are some recent pics, the first is from 7 weeks, the rest are from today.

Potty Training help!!!

DS was 3 in July. He refuses to potty train. I've tried everything. He did have surgery on his private area at the age of 2 and we have discovered that that could delay him according to the doctors. He will tee tee in the potty some days all day long. The next day he refuses. For awhile he was doing the big job in the potty all the time. Now he refuses. He is STUBBORN. I think it's more that than the surgery. I'm at my wits end! Words of advice are welcome. I've tried everything I can think of and have researched this on the net.

Let me tell you about the surgery so you'll know his background. From just the age of a few months, he seemed to have a raw bottom. We thought it was the disposable diapers and I went to cloth. It got better but it never cleared up no matter what I did. Before he turned 2, he said his tee tee hurt. His bottom was very raw so we decided he had a bladder infection. Took him to the doctor. He looked around down there and said he wasn't going to get a urine sample because it was probably just diaper rash. Just a few weeks later, I was changing him and the end of his tee tee was bloody and stopped up. Scared me to death! We took him to the ER and they discovered that he had metal stenosis where the slit in the end grows back up. I feel stupid now that I never had a clue, but he was looked at by doctors and they didn't have a clue either. Anyway, he had to have surgery to reopen that end. The reason he had diaper rash constantly was because his bladder wasn't being emptied and he had a bladder infection from just a few months old. Even now, typing this, I feel so sad tha I had no clue what to do for my baby.

If he didn't tee tee in the potty sometimes, I would think it was the surgery that delayed this, but he does go some days. I don't know. I just know I"m worried that he'll get to 4 YO pre-K and won't be trained. He goes two days a week now and his teacher is very good with all of this but this is a private school. They don't have a 4 YO program.

Vomiting and coughing in child?? Possibly Bronchitis??

My stepson to be came from his moms this morning. She said he threw up several times last night. He hasn't thrown up here. He's been very lethargic all day although he didn't want to sleep or anything. He ate toast and had some chicken nuggets for lunch and has drank some powerade. He's ate pretty good.

All he's done all day today, is cough this deep hard cough. I've heard of throwing up from coughing, but not coughing like this from throwing up?? Now, His mom said he started this barking cough last night before he started throwing up. Like I said he's been eating all day.. decent. He looks lethargic, and is coughing. He hasn't thrown up at all here today.. and has been eating.. but has had this horrible barking cough.. you can hear it in his lungs when he talks, coughs and even breathes.. it's rattly.. his voice is hoarse. He may have a low grade fever but it's not much if it is.. And as the evening goes on he's playing fine.. but completely losing his voice.

I really think it's probably bronchitis and not a stomach bug. Or it's something upper respiratory. All of this cough and stuff isn't typical with a stomach bug. Some people say it could be swine flu.. but he has no fever. The raspy, rattly voice... makes me think it's bronchitis. I don't know. I didn't know who to ask.. so I thought I'd ask here.. and see if any of you parents might be able to relate or help. My fiance isn't taking it seriously... thinks it's just a stomach bug virus. But it definitely seems like more from the symptoms.

Just looking for some advice/thoughts!!

Thanks!

We've started giving him a couple ounces of nursery water now. He still has it bad today, I have sat with his legs pulled up, tried the thermometer trick, I finally took Vaseline and a sturdy q-tip and broke some of it up for relief enough that he would stop screaming and get some sleep, that worked for about an hour, then had to repeat the process over. The poor guy is grunting and trying to push it out in his sleep right now.

I did get some cute pics last night before and during his bath.

Before we woke him up for his bath:

Being burped:

And being cute and cooing and smiling before we made him mad:

And of course, the bath:

Also, fyi, he doesn't get to sleep on his belly unless he's throwing a fit during the day, because that's the only way he'll go to sleep, he has to be on his firm travel mat, and he has to be within arms reach of me.

If I wait until my first is 2-3 I won't be able to keep up with him, because every pregnancy will mean bedrest. I am terrified that the longer I wait, the less likely I will be able to handle it. I want Kaden to have his first year, but I want to TTC again after that, because this means another cerclage, another high stress, high risk pregnancy.
