Sometimes I do not understand why I should care. Except that Christ changes me to see things a different way.
Being like Christ would never "work" if it were up to ourselves. I cannot be nice sometimes because inside, I can feel such a fury that I'd rather be angry. Or hurt that I want to run away.
See...the difference between Christ and religion is that in religion, you try your best to meet a certain standard through your own efforts. But in reality, no one can be good, because inside, we are all prone to do evil. Isn't that why some Christians can live and never see a change in their life? You know...Christians too can turn it into it being about ourselves. Being saved doesn't mean we are automatically made perfect.
Cause it is only when we are in relationship with Christ... when we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us that we can truly change. He works in us!
But it's still a daily process. There are days when I get so distracted from God, that by the end...I am filled with frustration and anger.
And again I realize...It is only him who can change our hearts. It is only him who can wash away the hurts we have accumulated... only him who can bring peace to a stormy life.
"I'm a Christian" has been so overused, that it can be difficult to understand what life in Christ really is. Even someone who has read the Bible multiple times can miss it, because head knowledge is far from Godly wisdom. Scholars could even understand less than a new Christian.
That is not to say that those people (who never change) are not saved. But certainly, belief in Christ isn't limited to "I am forgiven". IN CHRIST, we are made whole.
I can say that my belief in Christ is no longer just a belief that's in a passive state (for example, thinking... "I hope he really exists"). But I find that to disbelieve now, I'd have to forsake everything else about my life.
