Is abstinence possible?
Sure it is. For those who understand why God created sex...what sex was meant to be...
The question seems to be asked in the most ironic of situations. In a sexually-charged society where the media basically sells this idea that if you're not having sex...you must be a nerd or someone inferior to the promiscuous...
The idea crossed my mind, although I'm sure it's been used many times...
You can't watch the cooking channel for several hours a day and then wonder why you're hungry.
Likewise, you can't put trash into your mind and wonder why you're lusting.
So for a world to be in this state and to slam abstinence?
Abstinence is not the problem. It's the way we've slowly been manipulated to view sex as a source of one's own pleasure/power.
Do we all lust? We can.
And we could not.
People claim that Christianity is brainwashing. Really...I see it the other way around. The kinds of things we settle for in our lives that the world sells us seems to be the more hazardous of the "ideas"...in my opinion.
Of course, there are those who have taken Christianity and dwarfed it beyond recognition...but I'm not comparing religion (which is human-made) with secularism.
I'm comparing God's way and human's way called secularism. Really...we're just going down the drain if you really think sex is all there is to live for.
It's not about lust and get all you can. Do it, and see what kind of destruction you leave behind you.

| | That's awesome! Yes, worldly deception is a powerful thing. It's made sex outside of marriage to be a good and desireable thing, which is directly opposite of what God says. And I think it's fairly obvious all the dangers, both physical and emotional, so if you look at it just from our earthly view, I think it's easy to say that duh, God is right, sex should be within marriage and lusting is very dangerous. But the world would have us believe otherwise and it has done a great job convincing most. Pretty scary, really... |
