Selfishness Is Everywhere

Posted 28th October 2011 at 02:29 PM by PriscillaKing
OK, I definitely don't have time to hang out and e-chat, but this refers to the "Rant" posted a few minutes ago.

Selfishness in the Tea Party? Ohhh. You should only see some of the e-mails. While Occupy Wall Street...I've seen photos and videos of hatespeech posters, vandalism, filth...let's just say that even those Tea Partiers who sound deranged are much more mature than some Occupiers.

So where is there NOT selfishness? We have the same responsibilities toward our own selves that we have toward other selves; we just have a tendency to get so caught up in firsthand knowledge of our own selves that we don't even think about the other selves.

In 45 years, I think I have reached the point where, most of the time, I do try to balance the real needs of all concerned and "Seek the Highest Good of All." But I don't think any mortal creature is ever free from selfishness. At best, and probably only with God's help, we can hope to become conscious of our selfishness and limit its impact on our lives.
