I know I've said it before, but I see little on this earth that is more honest than a child's smile. In church this morning there was a father sitting in front of me with his three daughters. It was Trinity Sunday today, and so the sermon was on images of God and how/where we see God. All I needed to do was look at the girls in the pew in front of me - the 4 year old grabbing a handful of her fringe and making a pony tail that stood up. Her younger sister throwing her arms around her father and giving him a kiss on the cheek. Then all three daughters laughing and smiling happily.
That's where I see God. In the purity of those smiles and joys in life. We're told that to enter the Kingdom of God we must become like little children and I believe it. It's ok to be 'adult', but let's not forget to smile at the small things. To throw our arms around those we love for no reason but because we're blessed to have them. To dance and sing praise because we were created for a purpose.
Because we're loved. Because we can love.
So when people say 'God is love', how do you describe that? How do you explain what love looks like? All I know is that I see joy as a part of love, and I'm yet to find a joy more honest than that of a child's.
