Hello to anyone who is reading this blog [I suspect that there are no readers because I am new here]. I just wanted to start this blog out by writing a little about my name and why I am here.

As a child, I was raised Catholic and took Catholicism very seriously. When I started to get older, I lost faith in the religion- not necessarily God. I did not understand the need for many of the traditions and rituals of the Church. I understood that many things were done because it was tradition to do them, but just because something is tradition does not mean it came from God. I do not want to get too much into the reasons why I separated myself from religion because that is not the point of this blog.

I chose the name imissJesus because I do. I miss being close to God through the bible, through a community of believers, and through private prayer. I am doing my best to come back to the Christian faith. I don't expect it to happen overnight and I do not expect it to be easy, but I do know that I will succeed in this.

I am writing this blog because I am still wrestling with my issues. The majority of my friends are either atheists, agnostics, or Christians who for some reason assume I am an atheist because I do not openly discuss religion in person. In either case, there doesn't seem to be anybody who understands my perspective. I am writing this blog for two main reasons:

1) Writing this blog will help me in my religious quest. It will help by identifying parts
of my beliefs and life that I need to work on.
2) I am wondering if there are people who feel the same way I do out there.

For now, I plan on practicing Christianity in private and not sharing the experience with my current friends. I know this may seem like the wrong thing to do for some who may read it, but it feels right to me right now.
