Napa Valley Marathon

Posted 23rd February 2011 at 05:38 PM by Sojourner1
Just checking back on this blog to see what I wrote about finishing my first marathon. Good thing I didn't read through it again before starting my most recent marathon training regimen.

So I've got my second marathon coming up in a week and a half. I'm running the Napa Valley Marathon on March 6th. Training went much better this time around. I didn't keep spinning three days a week as well as running. I only went spinning about once a week and added yoga twice a week. No injuries...

Once again two weeks have flown by. I can't believe the marathon is only five days away the anxiety is increasing, especially since I have been struggling with an injury for the past three weeks. I've come to realize that I probably over trained a bit in that I only took one day of rest a week instead of the two days that my training schedule called for. What was I thinking?

Anyways, my hips have been a real problem. Shooting pain through my hips (that is going away during...

Well this was the hardest week of the training. I'm fighting a slight injury to my hips, especially the right side. I decided to take Monday off and I cut back the miles on my midweek run. The big run of 20 miles was on Sunday. So hard to run that far and for so much time alone. My husband had to run on Saturday because my youngest son had a soccer tournament out of town. We took turns taking him to the games over the weekend.

The run went better than I thought, but I found that I...

Once again two weeks have flown by and I am down to only four weeks left before the big day. Week six I had to run 18 miles...the farthest I have ever run. We had to run on Easter morning because Saturday was busy with a Lacrosse game and yard work. The run ended up going fairly well and it was inspiring to run by a sunrise Easter morning service taking place on a hill right next to the road we were running on. We walked for a minute after every mile, drank every two miles, and ate a GU every 5...

I've got some catching up to do. I've already completed both weeks 8 and 7, I've just been forgetting to post my training log in this blog. I'm growing quite tired or running, not so much physically tired but mentally tired. It's hard to keep putting in the long miles and I can tell that the last six weeks of training are going to be an incredible challenge, both mentally and physically. I'm staying injury-free and well, finally over the last cold/flu that I had.

Spent some of the...
