When I was young before entering the ministry we had in churches such things called "prayer rooms". These were places for people to go usually before service for the sole purpose of praying. These rooms filled usually an hour before the start of any service. Most churches don't have them anymore and I have to wonder, why not?
Acts chapter 12 when Peter gets put into prison, the church went to prayer for him.Yes they have often been faulted for not knowing he was standing at the door. However I believe they were so entrenched in prayer most didnot realize what was being said. I have been a part of such meetings and have heard the prayer rooms praying through the service.
We not only need the rooms restored we need "prayer warriors" to fill these rooms. We live in some very shaky times here in this country and world, times thatcall for men and women to get on their knees if they physically can, and get ahold of God. The revivals of the past always had a foundation of prayer going before it,that is what we need today.
To many churches are being closed throughout this country every year.Churches that were started by men amd women just like us who were hungry for the word of God and a place to escape the cares of the world and worship God,we still need those places.
Prayer is a key that opens heavens door.. God wants to bless us,he wants to treat us as his children. However he does want us to come to him and ask,he does not want us to just take him for granted "that he will do it " I believe its called communaction, and prayer for us is that connection. God has always answered prayer, maybe not in the manner or time that we would like but he does answer.
Where have the prayer rooms gone? I don't know except the church must have felt they have outgrown the need for them. I wholeheartedly dissagree. The need for them will always be here and we need to go back to the time where we couldn't wait for our time to be in them.
