Ryan stopped.
“But isn’t it dangerous, going down there without some sort of defense?” he asked.
“Yes, but I have this,” the Professor responded pulling out a vial.
“What is it?” Ryan asked afraid to touch it.
“A nano-bot decelerator. It shuts down the nano-bots that are controlling electronics all over New York, and possibly, Earth.”
“Ok, so where do we put this decelerator thingy?”
“In the creature that created this mess, but only after I’ve given it a chance to leave.”
“Ok then, let’s go!”
The Professor dropped down the manhole. Ryan followed. What he saw could have been a factory, or an altar, or a lab. But whatever it was, it was definitely alien, and it definitely had an alien in it. The Professor walked out so that the massive alien blob could see her.
“I wish to approach the Tarchech. Do I have concent?” she shouted towards the blob.
The blob spoke, or more like growled, some words that Ryan couldn’t understand.
“Thanks,” the Professor said as she walked towards it.
“May I speak with you face to face?” she asked.
The blob formed a sort of face looking thing and looked towards the Professor.
“Ah yes, much better. Now, I am here under statute 225 of the Shadow Proclamation. You need to leave immediately.”
The creature said some words.
“Oh don’t tell me about your rights. This is a full blown invasion, a clear violation of statute 225!”
The creature growled again. Some androids came out from the shadows. They grabbed hold of the Professor and pulled the vial out of her pocket.
The creature growled more viciously this time.
“Oh, that? That was merely a last resort! I…”
The creature interrupted with an angry snarl.
“No you don’t understand!”
Some more androids grabbed Ryan and brought him down in front of the creature.
It started screaming at them.
Ryan looked towards the Professor and asked, “What’ll we do now?”
Meanwhile the streets of New York were in chaos. Reports of electronics coming alive were all over the TV stations. People were running around in terror of flying machines. Mrs. Tyson, Mr. Tyson, and Ryan’s little sister Angelina were holed up in their cellar, not wanting to move.
“Mommy, where’s Ryan?” Angelina asked.
“I’m sure he’s ok, Honey,” Mrs. Tyson said.
But her face betrayed her words. She was worried out of her mind. At that moment, Ryan was standing in front of an alien creature that wanted to kill him, but he had a plan. He looked over at the android that held the vial. He knocked the creature in easily with a good hard roundhouse kick. The vial broke on contact, causing the creature to go into a mad rage as it disintegrated into dust. The androids fell to ground and convulsed as they turned into various mechanical devices.
Ryan picked up a device and shouted, “My cell phone!”
He picked up another and said, “My watch!”
“I’m glad you’re happy,” the Professor said sarcastically as she climbed up the ladder out of the manhole.
Ryan chased after her. She headed straight for the Tardis. Ryan stopped her.
“Hey! You show me all this stuff and tell me about extra-terrestrials and spaceships and then you just leave?” he shouted.
“Pretty much sums me up, yeah.”
“I’m coming with you!” Ryan objected.
“Don’t you have a family you need to go home to?” the Professor asked
“This is a once in a lifetime chance, and I’m taking it!” explained Ryan.
“What about school?” the Professor offered.
“What better way to learn about the universe than to travel around it? Plus you said that this thing is able to travel through time. What better way to learn history!” Ryan argued.
“It’s too dangerous!” the Professor said.
“Do I look like I’m afraid?” Ryan asked.
There was an awkward silence as the Professor tried to think of reasons why he couldn’t come.
